Taking Nebraska and Washington by a better than 2-1 margin. Clinton apologists, please start your engines...
Sure, Obama win caucuses but loses elections, Clinton wins elections but loses caucuses.
State legislators are jumping on the voter identification bandwagon so quickly that these voter "integrity" initiatives have become a modern tool of voter suppression, much like poll taxes, white-only primaries, and grandfather clauses of the past. Whether deliberately or unknowingly, state legislatures are casually proposing measures that will have a devastating impact on poor, African-American and other minority voters.
Caucuses is a form of pool taxes.
I find appalling, that so called liberals would celebrate a win in such anti-democratic process that discriminates against non affluent educated people.
Right, like Connecticut, Utah, Missouri, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama...all those elections he lost!
I think he and Hillary are actually tied in primaries. How do you explain that?
Yes He Did.
Big.
1 out of 3 for obama!
i read somewhere that if hillary can keep her numbers in tonight's voting above 30%, the delegate tie will not be broken. can any delegate mathematician confirm this?
People who buy the silly transcendentalist politics argument are likely to support Obama with an almost irrational ferventness that makes them likelier to turn out to these very high-cost voting events called caucauses.
All those sour grapes are eating away at your insides!
I'm not gonna start the 'over-rated' cheer yet, but time is running out for HRC.
the margin in WA is astounding! even with the support of Sen's Cantwell and Murray..WA does have the "outside the beltway" mentality, tho.
what's with the slow LA results? is it the french law?
Damn. My bro voted in Seattle today. Said that in his neighborhood, he was the youngest voter (he's 36) - lots of older, white voters. And they were all fired up for Obama! Precinct went 5-2 for Obama.
On a side note, why is MSNBC taking the night off? Do they really get really high ratings from Lockup and their other Reality TV shows?
MSNBC and clinton struck a deal to not report tonights blowout based on exit poll data because of the Shuster comment
CNN CALLS WASHINGTON FOR OBAMA!!!
Both states, two to one margins.
He's almost put Hillary into Alan Keyes territory (for those who live in Illinois and remember the general election for Senator in '04).
Fox News just called Washington for Obama.
Clinton apologists, please start your engines...
Wait for it. Wait for it...

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!
It's only funny because it's true. Real politics isn't that exciting, but when you base your platform on emotional gibberish and this ambiguous idea of change (a new administration is, by definition, a "change" from the current one; a HRC administration would be a HUGE change - a historical shift - from what we currently have) you're bound to get people riled up like never before.
Check the stats. Obama outperforms the polls in states with caucuses by a statistically quite significant margin.
It's a shame that Hillary, with her 35 years of experience, never took the time to vociferously proclaim the threat to democracy imposed by caucuses. But of course, Hillary only realized that caucuses were evil a week ago, roughly the same time that she realized that Obama is the establishment candidate.
I don't live in IL but am familiar with that race. He's put her, as Bill might say, in Jesse Jackson territory.
the 'almost irrational' is my sweet spot.
Intensity matters. These are the people who will work in Nov, and counteract the Repub slime machine.
If you want to talk about irrational and unreal go over to the hillbots site at Taylor Marsh. They are not only playing the sexist victim card for all it is worth but also take pleasure in the fact that an exit poll in Louisiana shows only one-third of Clinton voters would support Obama if he were the nominee. With friends like these...
Don't forget the Obama Money Bomb on 2/12. Click on my moniker and go to my blog for a post with details.
Let's wait for Louisiana before we call it a knockout. Low voter turnout in that state may help a Clinton upset.
ggiaconen, my costs for caucusing today were:
(1) getting it together to figure out where my caucus was
(2) rolling out of bed before noon
(3) walking 5 blocks and hanging out with a happy group of neighbors for an hour and a half.
And yes, we are enthusiastic.
Let's wait for Louisiana before we call it a knockout. Low voter turnout in that state may help a Clinton upset.
Voter turnouot was a dismal 15% based upon early estimates, but demographically the Dmeocratic vote was still 49% AA according to CNN earlier.
Yes we are.
Now that there are actual results to report, shouldn't they be taking the top spot from the Shuster Spat?
That isn't an accusation of bias, BTW, just an offering of opinion.
Funny how Obama supporters can make it out to caucus on a Saturday, but apparently it is too much of an inconvenience for the Clinton supporters.
She's probably going to win Maine tomorrow. What is she going to say then?
the mating call of the loser! [/homer]
Huckabee Wins Kansas In A Blowout
Obama Wins Nebraska By A Landslide
Good night for American democracy.
The Clinton campaign is really bankrupt of even good spin now. Wasn't it a person named Hillary Rodham Clinton who went for the Knock Out Punch in the Iowa Caucuses. Say it again Iowa Caucuses. First state to vote, and Hillary went full bore there, but after she loses some Caucuses, now we start to hear Hillary's Sour Grapes Brigade proclaiming that Caucuses are not fair.
Did you hear the one from them about how tonight's result are not meaningful because Senator Obama outspend them by a few hundred thousand in those states.
Hillary's Sour Grapes Brigade need to explain how that works to that big spender Mitt Romney.
Obama has won both in primary election states and caucus states. Hillary has not.
Yes indeed, I am starting to believe we can!!!
Nebraskan here. Our first caucus, so none of us really knew what to do, but things went OK. The place was absolutely packed - too full to even talk together easily. I don't think they expected that many people. Luckily, I got there just before the registration was supposed to START, because the parking lot was almost full, and the line already stretched clear across the room (inside, luckily). And people kept coming at that rate for another hour. I don't know where they ended up parking.
The line for registering new Democrats also stretched across the room, and stayed that way for even longer. Of course, that's a slower process, but they were registering a LOT of new Democrats.
In my precinct, there weren't enough Clinton supporters to reach the 15% threshold, so we went entirely for Obama. Almost all white, an even split between men and women, and varied ages (though quite a few young people). I was really impressed with them (of course, they agreed with me, so no wonder).
LOTS of enthusiasm for Barack Obama!
