More On Obama Campaign Manager's Stealth Visit To North Carolina
The mystery deepens around Obama campaign manager David Plouffe's quiet visit to North Carolina.
Earlier today I noted that Plouffe had popped up in Raleigh, in John Edwards' home state. Plouffe denied he was there to woo Edwards.
But now the Raleigh News and Observer reports that he gave a closed-door talk to a group that included a number of major Edwards backers he was clearly wooing.
The paper also reports that a top Clinton operative is now planning to head to the state to woo financial backers, so clearly, the Hillary camp thinks something's up.

I am still not convinced that anything really important is going on there, but I admit that you are making this into a very interesting stay-tuned-for-our-next-exciting-episode sort of a serial here.

Note that it's Edwards former law office, where his former partner still practices. Going after former Edwards supporters and contributors actually makes a lot of sense as a reason for David Plouffe to go to Raleigh, NC.

Always a day late and a dollar short with the Clinton campaign.

Not convinced either. And if it is wooing, well, good for them. I'm more focused on winning Texas at this point. And, since I have little to do with JRE, and never supported him in the first place, the JRE thing is all secondary in my mind.
We were challenged to a duel in Texas. That's where the fight is. Of course, something like this to play for headlines keeps the free media off HRC for awhile, right? ;)

I tell you what, I would trade all the national average tracking polls from now through Nov for another Texas poll every two days between now and Mar 4. I am on pins and needles to know how the race is moving down there, so the polls from TX cannot come often enough.

I've heard about that pic. I'm gonna send it on to my GF, who I suspect may actually like Obama more than me (kidding). I also told her it goes the other way as well, platonically of course.

Rumor has it that top clinton campaign operatives are scouring couches throughout the country to find loose change to run campaign ads. Clearly the clintons are up to something.

Well they can't look in my couch. My family room is such an embarrassing mess right now that I would be embarrassed to let even the Clinton campaign see it.

So much for ready to lead on Day One, sounds like she is just trying to keep up with Obama, following him around, trying to learn from him. I don't know if we can afford a president who needs on the job training, especially when they can't even run a primary campaign with every advantage from the very beginning. :P

Sounds like Obama may be doing an end-run around Edwards: tired of waiting for an endorsement, Obama is going directly to Edwards' backers to drum up support and $$.
Not a bad idea. I bet Hillary wishes she'd done it first.

Edwards who? Who is edwards? I don't remember an edwards in the race. It's been so long that its just been obama and clinton, I don't remember any of the other candidates anymore. There was an edwards? Hmmm.

FWIW: Damn near all the serious trial lawyer money in this state was going to Edwards. That means all those guys and gals are fertile and unploughed territory for Obama and Hillary.
That said, however, that's more like a reason for Hillary to send her top money person here. It really doesn't seem like Obama is hurtin for cash. Certainly not enough to dispatch one of his top two hands to look for more on the day of a debate. And as to going David Kirby's office, that's definitely a thing that makes you go hmmmm . . .

Wow - Clinton needs the money more, but it wasn't until the Obama campaign was down there wooing Edwards contributors that they decided to do the same? Damn, they're not really beating the bushes for cash the way they should be, are they?
