Gallup: Obama's Lead Over Hillary Increases Again
Today's Gallup tracking numbers give Barack Obama a five-point national lead over Hillary Clinton, up from the virtual tie in yesterday's results:
Obama 47% (+1)
Clinton 42% (-3)
There was some question as to whether Obama's numbers yesterday were being dragged down by the Hillary camp's plagiarism accusations. But with this strong recovery, it looks like it might have just been a statistical blip — and even if it wasn't, the publicity from his big Wisconsin win should make it a moot point.

So we've confirmed that "vaporize" was too strong a word?

Bah. Who cares about Gallup or their silly national average polls?

Prepare to learn that the polls don't matter.

Agreed has there been one right poll since that one newspaper's poll in iowa? Just one? Nope. Even last night, not one poll predicted the blow out and the one with the largest spread of 13 points was considered untrustworthy and an "outlier." Same with SC. These dumb polls are completely worthless. The only ones that count are the actual ones on voting day.

While the polls aren't doing a good job at nailing obama's number, they have been pretty steady at hitting within 3 points of hillary's. the ceiling people talked about a month ago was true. with such high negatives, it was only a matter of time, really. and the obama camp has done a wonderful job of framing the message, winning news cycles, and frankly, outorganizing clinton on the ground.
the bottom-up appeal of obama's campaign is what is winning over the undecideds that are left, and these pollsters simply cannot account for the incredible turnout we have seen in every state that has held a Dem. Primary.

You are right about that. Makes sense.

Does anybody have a poll of California? I'd like to see some other irrelevant polls as well.

the most irrelevant was the washington primary yesterday. hillary almost squeaked out a victory!

Take a look at Michigan for the general. Obama over McCain, and Hillary merely tying McCain.......in 'her' state where she 'won' by staying on the ballet.

Bah, that 47% is completely itrrelevent, just like Wisconsin and Hawaii.

That publicity is helping in a number of ways. Cash, and, taking attention away from the "plagiarism" issue, and, to a far lesser extent, the "Why does Michelle Obama hate America?" inanity that Bill O'Reilly is convulsed over.
As for the national polls?
I've been saying this for several days. Yawn. And after the fiasco in California, just treat Zogby's results as liner for the cat litter box.

just as I expected, yesterday was just some normal variation.
I expect the difference to go towards 10 in the next few days.
Not that it matters, though.

My recommendation during the debate is for Obama to completely ignore her. Just talk as if you are being asked questions about McCain.
I'm not sure what will happen: either she'll rage with anger, or she will cry like a baby. Either way it'll be fun.

Barack Obama's momentum makes my head swim. I can only imagine what Hillary Clinton and her people must be thinking. Those bozos actually planned to pull off this primary, but just exactly how remains a mystery. Political types will write about the brief but uncomfortable rise & fall of Hillary for decades. What not to do: the marriage of junk-science and politics. And the Clinton apologists on CNN; what possible successful political conclusion do they envision for Hillary? Perhaps they just don't want to incur the Clinton's wrath in the final hours – understandable: http://theseedsof9-11.com

They planned for a coronation instead of a contest. They had no plans for having to deal with a strong opponent after Super Tuesday, that is why they used up the huge War Chest that they had collected from Washington Corporate Lobbyists. Remind you of any one else's plans? Hint. Greeted with Flowers and Sweets.
Senator Obama planned a fifty state strategy. He planned the play and played the plan. He was ready from day one. Hillery was not, despite all her blather about being a great manager.

The national polls are important for one, critical reason: if Obama leads HRC in all of the national polls (along with the pledged delegate count and popular vote) it's one more argument against allowing the superdelegates to give HRC the nomination.
