Bloomberg Firmly Closes The Door On A White House Run

In a guest column in the New York Times, Mike Bloomberg has now confirmed yet again, but in more detailed terms, that he will not be running for president.

"I listened carefully to those who encouraged me to run, but I am not — and will not be — a candidate for president," Bloomberg writes. "I have watched this campaign unfold, and I am hopeful that the current campaigns can rise to the challenge by offering truly independent leadership. The most productive role that I can serve is to push them forward, by using the means at my disposal to promote a real and honest debate."

Bloomberg left open the possibility that he would endorse one of the current candidates for president, if he saw a candidate who "takes an independent, nonpartisan approach — and embraces practical solutions that challenge party orthodoxy."

THIS IS EXCELLENT NEWS!! FOR HILLARY!!!

Bloomberg would have cleaned up in a Clinton/Romney or Clinton/McCain matchup, but in a Obama/McCain race, Bloomberg has no in. This was pretty much a forgone conclusion, and he was smart to end the speculation now before he becomes Nader redux.

Bummer.

Bloomberg was my only realistic firewall in the event of a Hillary nomination.

:(

I guess Nadar scared him.

Can he now convince Nader not to run? Maybe give him 500 million reasons to stay off the ballot? =)

Shorter version:

"I'm hoping McCain throws those stupid wingnuts off of a bridge and embraces the sensible America-loving conservatives who love America and want to cut my, er, everyone's taxes.

If not, I'll have to endorse Obama and hope he'll cut my taxes, because between him and McCain, I won't be able to get any votes."

It's me or Bloomberb is getting partisan ?

Another Clinton superdelegate defection for Obama. This thing is almost finished. Time to focus on McCain.
