Zogby: McCain Has Narrow Lead In Michigan Primary

This morning's new Zogby poll gives John McCain a narrow lead over Mitt Romney in Michigan:

McCain 27%
Romney 24%
Huckabee 15%
Paul 8%
Giuliani 6%
Thompson 5%

Romney beats McCain 30%-20% among Republicans, but McCain wins among Democrats and independents by margins of about 15 points each. Only about half of the voters in Zogby's sampling are actually self-identified Republicans, due to the lack of a contested Democratic primary here.

Keep Romney alive. Like all wars of attrition the GOP loses if Romney wins.

We also got a new poll from South Carolina that has Obama up big against Clinton.

Can Zogby really predict how many Dems will vote in the GOP Primary right now?

Do we really want McCain as our opponent? Too many independents and Repug military types like him.

If McCain wins on the Republican side, we are dead if we nominate Hillary. We can kiss our Democratic comeback goodbye, I'd put a million dollars on it.

Just putting that out there for people who want to fight for Hillary like it is win-at-all-costs for her and Bill, because no matter how much blood they shed to win the nomination, Hillary will go down in a ball of flames in the general, and we'll have nothing to show for it but our own stupidity.

Mitt Romney performs horribly, as usual. John McCain is formidable, as usual. Rudy Giuliani continues his national slide and Mike Huckabee does remarkably well, at least in Missouri (which isn't far from his home state of Arkansas).

It's also interesting to note that Barack Obama does better in the West than Hillary but worse in Missouri (pseudo-South).

Michigan democrats are breaking for McCain?!? What are they thinking. Vote Romney, people. We need to keep him alive for as long as possible. He'll destroy McCain for us if we let him.

Please please please stop posting the polls within the actual blog. You have a handy collection of them in an easy to use format and there is absolutely NO need to fuss with the horserace aspects of this campaign. Polls can obviously be wrong, look at NH. By no means should we disregard polls now post-NH. But what we should be doing in this forum is engaging in conversations about what the candidates are offering in terms of the future of our country. The polls will always be there, and anyone can understand them. What we, the common folk, cannot understand without the time and dedication that you put into this blog is the true state of the campaign and the differing visions for the country. So, please, drop the polls from your posting and focus more on what is really important.

Why isn't the trend line for McCain in Michigan going up? All the recent polls show him much higher. In fact, the graph shows five very recent poll results ranging from higher to way higher. Yet the McCain trend line is flat. What gives??

I *so* much want to see Huckabee's beliefs exposed in the bright light of the actual, real presidential election that I am going to cross over and vote for him tomorrow.

Can you imagine what the entire electorate will do if we have a Republican presidential candidate who can only admit that humans and dinosaurs walked together on earth, in the past 6,000 years, and that he believes it's all going to end "soon."

Bwahahahaha!

No, don't do it. MI is not a make-or-break state for Huckabee, but it is for Romney. Vote Romney to keep him alive, because he will happily destroy McCain for us before the election even starts.

I am in Michigan and will not cross over and vote for any of them fools, the right choice is to vote uncommited in the dem primary. If our delegates are sat it will be all clinton seats, uncommited need to break the 15% barrier in each CD to become viable for delegates. The ones pushing this cross over crap are fools.

Isn't Zogby the one who:

A) is pro-Obama (and vehemently anti-HRC)
B) Got NH %100 wrong

This is the same Zogby, yes?
