SurveyUSA: Tight GOP Race In Florida, Romney Up By One
The new SurveyUSA poll in Florida shows a dead heat in the Republican primary. In a possible sign of momentum, Mitt Romney leads by one point, whereas he was down in their previous poll released Friday:
Romney 32% (+4)
McCain 31% (+1)
Giuliani 16% (-2)
Huckabee 13% (-1)
Paul 5% (-1)
The poll was conducted entirely yesterday, after Gov. Charlie Crist endorsed McCain.

Guys, come on. You know that the margin of error likely makes this a dead heat -- although we wouldn't know that because you don't post it. These kinds of headlines give the misleading notion that the numbers are shifting. Don't make the same errors as the MSM -- you're better than that.

When they are within the margin of error, does it really make sense to assert that one or the other are ahead? Aren't they in a statistical dead heat if within that margin? And if so, what is the sense of claiming there is movement at such margins?
Next, if the vote is that close, and the delegates are assigned proportionately, it doesn't really matter who "wins" the popular vote, does it? Except for making news claims that (a) are disturbingly effective and (b) obscure the reality of the contest at the delegate level.

Uh, yeah, but isn't the Florida G.O.P. primary winner takes all? I believe that I have heard that (from no less an authority than Josh Marshall on TPM Media), and that that is also the case for many if not most of the G.O.P. primaries coming up.

I am stunned by how negative McCain went in the last 24 hours. This cat ain't confident. His polling must be showing a Mitt surge - otherwise he would not go down the snarling junkyard dog route.

Well he should have in my opinion used the Boca FL debate to have created more differences between Romney and himeself.
Mit is spending a ratio of many times McCain in ad spots in FL.
It will be interesting
