Sarkisyan Family Campaigns For Edwards
John Edwards brought an interesting endorsement to New Hampshire, one that underscores his themes of social justice: Hilda Sarkisyan, mother of the late Nataline Sarkisyan who died on December 20, at the age of 17. "Please vote for Senator Edwards," Hilda Sarkisyan told a crowd of 500 in Manchester, joined by her husband and son.
Although Nataline had health insurance, her provider refused to approve a liver transplant on the basis that her case posed too high a risk against survival. John Edwards has frequently talked about this case on the campaign trail, as an example of corporate greed trumping human dignity.

We must put an end to this.Do we as American Serfs enjoy supporting the elite classes of the top 20% I have listen to all the republican debates,I have not heard any call to end this vicious cycle that we have been spun into ,instead I hear fred, huck, gigi, mac, paul, mittens supporting the slow bleed of the middle class and the working poor .I was astounded last night to hear these people say modest income folks need to save for health care.
Gooo John Edwards good on you!
Let's remember that when we refer to "corporate greed," that the stockholders of the corporation are in effect its enablers, demanding higher profits for their investment in the corporation, including tacit consent for offshore headquarters designed to avoid paying a fair share of federal tax. The stockholders of most corporations have an abysmal record when it comes to stopping egregious CEO salaries, needless to mention golden parachutes for incompetent CEOs.
John Edwards certainly has his work cut out for him, if he wants to slay the corporate dragon.

But it is worthwhile to ask if non-controlling stockholders can really do much these days. Back in school, I learned about something called a "stockholder's derivative action". Seems to me that since then I've heard that such actions are now much more difficult to do--thanks, I presume, to legislation passed by the republican congress which has held us in its corrosive grip for 12 years.
Josh, I feel as though you are a friend. I've been reading this site almost daily for a few years. I was on the verge of telling you that if you followed the lead of the so-called "mainstream media" and ignored Edwards, I would not come here any more. So I am relieved to see that there is indeed a mention here at TPM of the "candidate whose name we dare not speak"--as we now jokingly call Edwards. Edwards, btw, is the candidate I want for president.
