Rudy: I'm Not Quitting If I Lose Florida
The vultures are circling around Rudy Giuliani's campaign, waiting for him to drop out after the Florida primary rather than suffer worse humiliation on Super Tuesday — but he says he's staying in even if he loses this Tuesday in the Sunshine State.
"I have no plans to end my campaign," Rudy told reporters today, according to the New York Times. "Of course, I anticipate winning in Florida because I don't go into a campaign anticipating losing. And I have no reason not to anticipate winning. We're very, very competitive."
For those of you keeping score, the latest polls have Rudy in third place in Florida, behind Mitt Romney and John McCain.

It is interesting that as mr. 9/11's campaign implodes, mccain's has correspondingly risen from the dead. I think it is that national security vote. Mr. 9/11 had it, now mccain does. In any event, if mr. 9/11 loses florida, we can all say bye, bye. He can just stay there and retire to st. petersburg.

Hey, why not stay in? Applying his economic policy proposals to his own campaign, the less money people donate to him as his numbers tank, the more money he'll actually collect, enabling him to continue his campaign until well past the election.

Rudy's signature issue - Islamofascism - has faded in importance as the economy and other issues have risen. And his personal story hasn't faded, it's just there, a messy story that no matter how hard he tries to re-frame it, doesn't play. It's the gum on his shoe he just can't get rid of. The longer he stays in, the better for Romney.

Listening to Giuliani during tonight's debate illustrates just how marginalized he is now. I also read the NYT endorsement of McCain that really dumped all over Giuliani's parade. While he might not drop out after Florida's vote, as he has been seen in the already held primaries and caucuses, Giuliani will simply be an asterisk; someone with a lingering or fringe vote. Even should he stay in, I suspect future debates will exclude him.
