Rasmussen: Hillary And Obama Tied In Connecticut
A poll of Connecticut released yesterday evening by Rasmussen shows that there may well be some bounce for Barack Obama from his victory in South Carolina and the Ted Kennedy endorsement. Obama and Hillary Clinton are now tied at 40% each, with John Edwards way behind at 9%.
Rasmussen did not have a previous poll of the Connecticut primary, but a look at other polls shows that Obama used to have trouble breaking even 30%. Can he leverage the Kennedy endorsement into wins in some New England states where he'd been way behind?

Eric.....so cute.....keep the spirits up.
Find a state where it's close and tout it. Let's not talk about any other state where there is doom and gloom. Keep the chin up. Good boy.

MSNBC is reporting that John Edwards is going to pull out of the race today.

Eric,
The poll was taken on the 27th. That's after South Carolina, but before Kennedy's formal endorsement (although Caroline's op-ed ran in the Times that morning, and word of Ted's move was leaking out by the evening). So if the Kennedys had an effect, you wouldn't expect to see it for another day or two.

I am shocked Obama is tied in CT. This is a great sign.

So much for the Clintons trying to paint him as "the black candidate". Go democracy!!

The only ones trying to paint Obama as the black candidate are the media and his own surrogates including Michelle Obama, Oprah, and the Rev Al Sharpton.

We don't get a lot of polling in CT, and the last Courant poll was kind of long in the tooth. Obama's support has probably been building as Feb. 5 came closer.
I'm registering democratic to vote in the primary, and maybe more usually lazy independents will do the same.

Great news. Hopefully this represents the leading edge of the post-SC bounce which will only accelerate in the coming week.

Jan 20 Univ. of CT poll had Clinton 41%, Obama 27%, Edwards 9%. Undecided was at 20% in that poll, so maybe the undecideds are breaking heavily to Obama, plus perhaps some Edwards voters.

And the Clinton campaign, which referenced his potential to be seen as "the black candidate" in talking to media after S.C.

Looks good...TOO good.
After NH and SC's surprises, I am wary of all polls.
I do think HRC supporters are going to have some very real headaches after 2/5, but she will manage to keep her significant leads in many states. When the delegate count is tallied though, Obama will either still be extremely competitive or perhaps even ahead in the best of circumstances.

jrterrier, when they say it's fun to dream - I'm not sure that's what they mean.

Less cutesy patronizing, more work for your own candidate, thank you. Coming here to rag on Obama when you could be donating money to Clinton, or maybe making calls for her, is a waste of time.
