Poll: McCain Ahead In Michigan
A new poll of Michigan by Republican firm Strategic Vision gives John McCain the lead with 29%. Behind are native son Mitt Romney at 20%, Mike Huckabee with 18%, Rudy Giuliani at 13%, and Fred Thompson and Ron Paul at 5% each.
The poll was conducted January 4-6, before McCain's win in New Hampshire. McCain also has the advantage of having won the Michigan primary in 2000.

He looks well positioned to eventually take the nomination. Obama is the only one that has a chance against him, I really hope people realize that. If Hillary gets the nomination, and has to go against McCain, we are going to have another Republican administration.
I don't want to have to say I told you so, I pray that I'm not put in that position. If we end up with a president McCain, I don't know who I'll be more pissed at, Republicans or the Democratic primary voters who shot our chances to hell from the start. I suppose if we end up with McCain then we deserve him...and by "we" I mean anyone who gets Hillary nominated, if that happens. Either way though, our foreign policy will be nearly identical; the arms industry has contributed more to Hillary than any other candidate, Dem or Repub, to say nothing about AIPAC and all the other special interests.

1) I believe in head to heads Edwards does best against McCain, not BO or HRC
2) After NH should we all be buying the polls at all anyway?

Grover_rover, nobody has any divine right to this nomination, not Clinton, Obama or Edwards. This never should have been a coronation or a cakewalk. Obama or Clinton shouldn't be crowned without having to fight for this thing and letting voters know why they should be the nominee.
How do you back up your claim that Obama is the strongest nominee against McCain in the general election? I've seen no polling data to support this. McCain likely doesn't have any leg up over any of the other "frontrunners" in the GOP field (i.e. - Huckabee, Mitt, Rudy). He's got a litany of past beefs with the far right base in regards to issues like campaign finance reform and especially the immigration reform bill.

mitt romney should kiss johns mccains feet for the sacrifices he made in vietnam for this country. People like rush limbaugh and mark levin are cowards and unpatriotic for there insults made against an american heroe like mccain. Niether served this country and now can only offer words while mccain offered his blood.

John McCain is a very strong candidate, I believe.

Obama may be stronger against McCain (http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_plank/archive/2008/01/09/post-new-hampshire-thoughts.aspx).
Another thing in his favor is that Bloomberg is less likely to run against Obama than against Hillary, because Obama would be taking away the independent middle that Bloomberg hopes to capture (to the extent he actually hopes to do anything other than throw the election to the Republicans).
Obama-Edwards would be an unstoppable ticket.

John Edwards would never accept the VP nomination for the second time.

Three days ago, a major financial company stated that America is in a recession. Bush snarked that ecomony was not good.
McCain IS Bush43's go to buttboy for the homoerotically named escalation in the Iraqi Occupation.
Are you guys paying attention?
A Republican should not be able to get elected dog catcher for the next decade. McCain is done. Huckleberry is done. Romney is done. The elephant may be extinct.
There is not a Democrat that can't beat any of them. While it is true that Clinton and Obama are marginally Democrats, this includes includes them too.
The only one that can defeat the Democratic nominee is the nominee he/she/itsself.
The question needs to remain if America can survive a Republican light? Clinton and Obama remain bad choices for America.

If nothing else, I think Obama would go furthest in improving the image of the country abroad - something that shouldn't be underestimated. Hillary would be a distant second in that regard.
Of course Edwards might help it too, but his southern-white-maleness would unfortunately mean less of a clear distinction, image-wise. I would consider him anyway, however, but more on substance than image. Edwards could of course still have a chance if the others attack each other into political oblivion.

Polls, schmolls. The core of the Republican party hates John McCain. Mitt's their man and they always get what they want.

Will the 2008 election be stolen again by the Republicans? Over a third of voters will be voting on
touch-screen machines, which are unreliable. And the problem cannot be fixed for the upcoming election.
The Supreme court is considering upholding a phony Voter ID bill from Indiana which will discriminate against poor, black, and elderly voters; but they don't say a word about the fraudulent elections of 2000 and 2002, nor about the potential for fraud or error with the electronic voting machines.

Two DEMs for every one REP is showing up the poll.
While there is a seven point swing between Diebold and hand count ballots in New Hampshire on the DEM side . . . The 2:1 is hard to overcome.
