Obama On The Air In February 5 States
Barack Obama has a new set of ads out in various February 5 states, yet another sign of how quickly this contest is going national.
This one is running Alabama, Georgia and New Mexico:
More ads after the jump.
This one is running in Connecticut, Delaware and Utah:
And this one is just running in New Mexico for now:

Hillary Clinton is also up for TV in New Mexico. She launched an economy ad in the state today.
And Obama received the support of more than a dozen current and former New Mexico officeholders today.

Obama also has an ad running in California. I don't remember the exact content of the ad, but it included clips of his 2004 DNC speech.
Anyone else see it?

I saw the healthcare one where he says he will cover "everyone" in NM last night. All these ads need some sort of standard, EVERYONE'S.

Very inspiring ad. I am liking Barak more and more and thinking about switching my vote from Hillary to Barack. I just can't see myself voting for someone who is not honest.

Can you imagine if Kucinish was winning? All those millions in commercials CNN and FOX wouldn't be making? Think it might have something to do with their early coverage and polls? Next time don't believe them.

Great ads! Keep up the good work team Obama!
BTW Georgia, I'm glad you are considering Obama. You won't be disappointed in voting for a man with integrity and vision. Two qualities that have been absent from the recent crop of politicians.

Anon:
His plan does cover everyone. His plan doesn't require them to participate. The 15 million number thrown around are folks they estimate won't sign up for coverage. His plan doesn't leave ANYONE out.

His plan does not cover everyone. He is LYING big time. He has been lying on this issue for a very long time. This is a major lie that is misleading people about what they will get if they vote for him.

Foxx,
Is Social Security not universal because you have to ask for it?
Obama's health care program would be available to anyone who cares to have it. That's universal. He just doesn't support fining people for not signing up.
You can disagree with the policy. But the lie here, if any, is the Clinton attack saying he wants to "leave people out."

Bottom line all 3 are competent individuals..although Edwards foreign policy is too weak for me..I cannot vote for someone I cannot trust. Hillary has recently eroded any iota of trust I had for her.

Interesting he's running an ad in NM. Are they hard hit by NAFTA? Obama has a great shot in GA an AL considering demographics.. In CA, he probably loses, but has to make it close due to all the delegates. Hopefully, he spends some time in St. Louis, as things could go well for him in Missouri, and that state could swing blue in 08..

Oaktown,
Comparing Obama's health care plan to social securtity is a streach. Social security is a successful government run program.
Obama's health care is a for-profit system. It still requires employers to cover employees. And a healthy percentage always goes to the CEO, stockholders, and people who's job it is to deny benefits.

Still fired up, indeed.

Well now..they've said he's a right winger, a left winger
They're Clintonians. They'll say anything.

I think the ad that was seen in CA is the national ad he's running on CNN and MSNBC. I've seen that ad too, and I'm in Chicago. Lord knows he doesn't have to advertise here.
Health care plan, I'm not sure how people can say that he's lying about his plan not covering everyone, when he was quite clear in the debate about the difference between his plan and Hillary's (oops I mean Mitt's) plan.
Obama: lower costs, provide universal ACCESS to coverage, subsidize poorest Americans' coverage.
Hillary: same costs, MANDATE coverage, provide subsidies to lowest-income Americans.
Which plan do you think does the bidding of the corporate health insurers? Do you THINK it might be the one that FORCES everyone into a plan, but doesn't focus on its price????

The Rezko story is breaking and it's wholly damaging. He is finished not just as a candidate for President but as a politician. He should resign his Senate as soon as possible and spare the Party any embarrassment.
And this gem from The Chicago Tribune:
The day after New Year's 1996, operatives for Barack Obama filed into a barren hearing room of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.
There they began the tedious process of challenging hundreds of signatures on the nominating petitions of state Sen. Alice Palmer, the longtime progressive activist from the city's South Side. And they kept challenging petitions until every one of Obama's four Democratic primary rivals was forced off the ballot.
Fresh from his work as a civil rights lawyer and head of a voter registration project that expanded access to the ballot box, Obama launched his first campaign for the Illinois Senate saying he wanted to empower disenfranchised citizens.
But in that initial bid for political office, Obama quickly mastered the bare-knuckle arts of Chicago electoral politics. His overwhelming legal onslaught signaled his impatience to gain office, even if that meant elbowing aside an elder stateswoman like Palmer.
A close examination of Obama's first campaign clouds the image he has cultivated throughout his political career: The man now running for president on a message of giving a voice to the voiceless first entered public office not by leveling the playing field, but by clearing it.

He has a different ad up in Georgia - saw it this morning. But it's very positive. Great ad.
It ran between the local morning news show and Good Morning America.

Congrats, facta, for pointing out the ethics and honesty of Barack Obama. You see, he had the names on a petition scrutinized and, golly, found a bunch that were fraudulent--so many that the petition was denied. That petition? To have a politician's name entered on a ballot.
My, my, that Obama. Americans need that sort of honesty and integrity or we'll continue our spiral into third world voting.
Vote for Obama.

Great ads for Obama.
I think he should also run one along the lines of this:
It is unfortunate that one of my opponents has chosen old-style, attack politics to try to differentiate herself from me in this campaign.
I will no longer respond tit-for-tat to these half-truths, bits of speeches taken out of context and gross misrepresentations. Instead, I will, as I have done from the beginning of this campaign – continue to listen to the people and make this a contest based on the issues – like healthcare for every American, the economy, the war in Iraq.
I have chosen to campaign this way because to not do so and to instead engage in the mud-slinging, dirty politics of old diminishes us all. The American people deserve better than that.
I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.

Very interesting how different Obama's approach and particularly his voice are in the ad aimed at Connecticut, Delaware, and Utah and the one slated to appear in Alabama and Georgia.
In the former he sounds like an investment banker; in the latter, an old-time preacher. Clearly he's playing to the audience of the moment.
Right now, I'm an undecided Democrat but after Obama and Clinton behaved like a pair of unruly toddlers at the Myrtle Beach debate, I'd be tempted to throw my support behind the only adult in the group ... John Edwards.
If both top Democratic contenders can manage to clean up their acts, focus on the issues, and stop slinging mud, I'll choose one or the other on Super Tuesday. If not, I'll vote for Edwards who doesn't have a chance of winning the nomination.
Pity to have to waste my vote like that because of bad behavior.
