New Hillary Ad: I'll Look Out For You

Hilary Clinton has a new ad in South Carolina, in which she promises to look out for the average American, and not the oil companies, drug companies and predatory lenders, as the Bush Administration has done:

The ad is just the sort of spot that one would expect to see from a frontrunner — Hillary contrasts herself with the Bush Administration and the status quo, rather than attempt any comparisons with her intra-party competition.

There are two typos in your first sentence.

user-pic

You better look out for me, because if I see you or the drunken attack dog that owns you, I'm liable to pour my milkshake on you.

user-pic

Great. If Clinton wins our primary, then this ad represents her head-start on the Republican nominee. On the other hand, perhaps this I'm-as-good-as-nominated-already approach will sour some voters in the delegate-rich states and help move the race in Obama's direction. In other words, either way, it is a good thing for Obama democrats like myself.

:-)

user-pic

Is that a freudian slip eric? You wrote "he promises to look out for you" as opposed to she. Too funny. I think the appropriate tag line for the campaign should be that "she promises to look out for herself and screw everybody else."

user-pic

That's not a typo. The two headed monster known as Billary Hilliam can be referred to by either gendered pronoun.

user-pic

I look out for you so if I see you coming, I can change my message to fit whatever you want.

Bush-Clinton-Clinton-Bush-Bush-Clinton:
Change that you can believe in and be ready for from day 1!!!

user-pic

I'll look out for you too the extent possible under the circumstances. If it's not possible, yes I'm talking to you gay community (DOMA, DADT), then I gotta do what I gotta do. Oh, and lobbyist are people too.

user-pic

What cloying garbage from the lady who voted to ban flag burning, for the Iraq war, the patriot act, and DOMA.

Here's a newsflash: Clintons lie.

user-pic

"I'll look out for you, just like I did when I voted to give Bush the green light to send your sons and daughters off to die in Iraq, and just like my husband (your new co-President) was looking out for you when he gave us NAFTA, and continued Reagan's corporate deregulation and slashed social assistance programs, err, I mean 'welfare reform'. Let me be your president and I will take great care of you...trust me."

"Oh, and when I'm president, don't you even think about burning a flag because I hate the first amendment and I suppose flag burning amendments, well, when they are politically popular, of course."

"Oh hell, just vote for me or the terrorists will kill you all on Day One!!!"

user-pic

The Designated CNN HillShill sounded just like Sargent

"Oh what great candidates.." Sorry we're running like Rove Republicans but "you know what? Obama supporters will just have to get used to it"

Oh some others of us may be young, but we're used to the Clinton Sewer and you won't see us diving in

We know what you are

user-pic

I was looking out for you, the little guy, when I repealed Glass-Stegall. I wanted to provide you with the opportunity to buy bargain-basement real estate. Just look at all those little people who stood with me when I did that:

user-pic

Hillary Clinton- #1 Candidate in raising money from the drug companies, more than all other candidates, Dem or Repub combined. She's the one who defended lobbyists and their right to be represented in Washington. Yup.. she'll look out for them all right.

user-pic

Ah, I almost forgot all about how she had said that she supported DOMA, oh, what was her quote on that?

"Marriage has got historic, religious, and moral content that goes back to the beginning of time, and I think a marriage is as a marriage has always been, between a man and a woman" - Hillary Clinton

and now Obama:

"For the record, I opposed DOMA [the Defense of Marriage Act] in 1996. It should be repealed and I will vote for its repeal on the Senate floor. I will also oppose any proposal to amend the U.S. Constitution to ban gays and lesbians from marrying. This is an effort to demonize people for political advantage, and should be resisted.

When Members of Congress passed DOMA, they were not interested in strengthening family values or protecting civil liberties. They were only interested in perpetuating division and affirming a wedge issue."

Thanks for reminding me Stan.

user-pic

Nice ad for someone every claims is all negative. Well, okay, she does rightly criticize Bush.

user-pic

does hillary know she's not running against George W Bush?

because at several times during the debate she spent minutes tellign us how awful george bush has been as president.

As if we didn't know that already.

But here's the thing: Bush won't be on the ballot in november. What good is running against him in january gonna do?

user-pic

Let's get it right folks.

Reagan(Bush), Reagan(Bush), Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush(Cheney), Bush(Cheney)! Thats 28 years of Joe Lunchbucket playing bend over. I, for one, don't see where HRC is going to change any of that.

user-pic

Well maybe they'll go for a Clinton(Clinton), Clinton(Clinton) on top of that! Or, more likely Clinton-Clinton(someone who doesn't get to talk), Clinton-Clinton(someone who doesn't get to talk)

user-pic

Thanks wwjb. A very strong point to vote against Obama. Sorry folks, anyone supporting marriage beyond traditional man-woman loses my vote. Further, if I recall polls on the topic, I'm guessing this is not a point Obama will highlight among his African-American audiences.

user-pic

how weird is that little part with the applause & the oil ship? that seems awfully bizarre to me that there would be this glorified cruising boat underscored by applause, then talk of rolling back corporate tax breaks. weird!

user-pic

Matthew wrote: "Further, if I recall polls on the topic, I'm guessing this is not a point Obama will highlight among his African-American audiences."

Ummmm ... you'd be wrong. He already has. At the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta last Sunday, the sermon before MLK Day.

That's the difference between the Clintons, who will gladly renege on any promise they make if it's politically beneficial to them, and someone who stands up for his principles.

user-pic

My error, but still a key point of difference that will turn off a lot of folks. Then again, it is also a topic that will work against Clinton in some circles.

user-pic

I like that HRC is trying to re-engage the "inevitability" line and serve herself up as a front-runner. That strategy worked really well back in December.

Perhaps she is counting on the hypothesis that most Super Tuesday voters are just now engaging. Interesting to note that Obama beat her to the punch on a national ad.

As as Romney. i think the first national ad I saw from him was last May. I haven't seen any others, save the Rudy spot in the Fox Repug debate last weekend. Interesting to note that no one out there reported that was the only campaign ad to be shown during the date.

Of course, since it was Rudy! who is currently less popular in the (R) side than Ron Paul, the silence is understandable.

Again, congrats, TPM, for your part in sinking Giuliani's "4 More Wars" message!

user-pic

"I think the appropriate tag line for the campaign should be that 'she promises to look out for herself and screw everybody else.'"

Michael A -- After Iowa, you said my posts were bitter. Perhaps they were. Although I support Hillary, what's up with the above comment? C'mon, you're better than that.

user-pic

Michael and gina:

It's a good thing that there aren't any of those pesky Adamses or Roosevelts running.

Gosh, I hope that President Obama's kid never runs for President someday. You'd oppose that, right?

Honest to Jah! This is the absolutely absurdest "argument" I've seen on here regularly on why not to vote for Hillary Clinton.

Obama in 2016!

Obama Jr. in 2044!

I can only imagine how incensed you were at the Kerry/Edwards 2004 ticket, considering how they gave the green light to kill our kids in Iraq.

Right?

Hillogyny - Know the difference!

And where would that Al Gore Jr. be today without that Al Gore Sr.?

The only thing she will look out for is
Bills overblown ego.

Oooh, that's insightful.

Or maybe it was clever. You did say "ego" right?

LOL. Send this one to Gingrich, Limbaugh, and Starr right away.

We got us another award winning speller here.
Get your head out of the abc,s book and try to think for yourself.
Your one of the idiots who looked at Bill wag his finger and tell you "the truth"
Well obviously you would'nt know the truth if it was delivered to you on the end of a cigar.
Go back to your spelling primer and leave the politics to the gronups.

ps (sic)

I agree with above, although I would not put it quite like that.

You are not a very original thinker!

user-pic

L.H.

Thanks for the insult. My goal in life is to someday be as insightful and original as you think you are.

How's that?

user-pic

If she intends to look out for US why is she taking so much campaign money from THEM and their lobbyists?!

The Obama campaign REALLY needs to start pointing out the obvious contradiction and hipocrisy here!

user-pic

I love the ad.

Obama supporters are starting to prove to the world that Obama has no leadership abilities, so what's his purpose?

Go back and read every single comment posted here so far.

Hillary Clinton has promised to do a better job as President than George W. Bush.
I have no doubt she will.

Barack Obama, on the other hand, has based his campaign on a promise of bringing us all together.

Now, go re-read the comments posted here from Obama supporters.
How's he doing on that promise?

user-pic

If Bill becomes First Lady can they keep him away from the interns?

Hillary, we may need to look after you.

user-pic

Most of these comments are hateful and pathetic. I am ashamed if they are from Democrats and/or Union members. I can go to hannity, limpbaugh and their ilk for this crap. Wake up, don't try to destroy a Democrat because you like another. The rethugs will use it all in November.
