VoteVets Blasts McConnell For Belittling Troop Deaths
The antiwar group VoteVets.org has become the first group to come out and condemn GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell over our report that he belittled the deaths of professional soldiers in a meeting with constituents this week.
"I would say that Mitch McConnell owes every member of our service and the families of the fallen an apology, but no apology from him can take back the venom he has spewed at our troops," a VoteVets.org senior advisor, Retired Lt. Col. Andrew Horne, said in a statement.
"For anyone to believe that casualties of war are somehow more acceptable because they were not draftees is disgusting," continued Horne, who served in Iraq with the Marines and lives in McConnell's home state of Kentucky. "For the Republican leader in the United States Senate to say that is beyond repugnant."
If Harry Reid said something like this it would be news for days and days. So it'll be interesting to see if this goes anywhere.

Sure sounds like a candidate!

The outrage will be as palpable as the outrage over the Boehner remark earlier this fall.
Teeny tiny cricket chirps from everyone else but us crazy leftist whackjobs in the blogosphere.
It's ok to hate the troops if you're a Republican.
On an unrelated topic (sort of), just who are the 39% who approve of Bush in the latest Rasmussen????!@#??? Can we arrest them for treason?

The problem is the Democrats just don't know how to throw a fit the way the GOP does.
They should take a page out of their playbook. Introduce a resolution in the senate denouncing what McConnell said. Sure it's a publicity stunt but when has that ever stopped the GOP? You want to win the message war? Go on the attack with everything you've got.

If Harry Reid had said this, McConnell would be squealing like a stuck pig. The Dem leadership's inability to take get any mileage (I'd settle for a couple of feet) out of something like this is mind-boggling. Ineffective on all fronts.

Do we really want Democrats to sound as stupid and accepting of law breaking as the Republicans sound any day of the week. I guess it is necessary but politics have sunk to an all-time low these days.

Excuse me, but this IS the leftist argument McConnell is making and he should be praised for speaking the truth.
Yes, any man's death diminishes each of us, but they are not innocents. They did sign up for it, they get lifetime benefits (if they live) and their deaths serve to inspire future generations to march off into stupid wars because of all the glory they get once they are in the grave.
Be honest. You don't cry as much over a cop who gets killed in the line of duty than you do when a little kid is killed by a stray bullet.
Sorry. The war sucks, and if people stopped signing up for it, it would be over with faster. Since Operation Iraqi Freedom has been going on longer than the terms of an enlistment, they all knew what it was about before they went over.

This blog seems to be trying to send a message that McConnell is vulnerable but the two top shelf Democratic candidates in Kentucky are moving away from running against him.

C T Voter: RE 'Rasmussen's' 39 per cent...it would be easier to charge them with and prove that they are criminally insane.

Sure he is. (sarcasm)
Using that logic, the Green Bay Packers are better off if Bret Favre can't play.
He might actually be competitive and hold McConnell to a 54-46 victory. But be honest, he is the third choice of Bluegrass State Democrats for this race.
