Thompson Lit Warns Iowans: Huckabee Is Like Bill Clinton
Fred Thompson has a great piece of literature in Iowa attacking Mike Huckabee, comparing him to another famous Arkansan. The mailer splices pictures of Huckabee together with none other than Bill Clinton, and warns Iowans, "Mike Huckabee talks like a Republican but taxes like a Democrat.
Jonathan Martin has a scan of the piece. It definitely shows two things: a) That Huckabee is the man ahead in Iowa now, and thus is the main target of everyone else's attacks, and b) that Fred Thompson has failed to catch on with voters by his own positives, and has to go negative on the other candidates.

Yes Fred he is like Bill, and he's kicking your lazy dumb ass just like Bill would.
I didn't know Fred had any money left to do mailers.

If he really wants to take Huckabee down, why doesn't he go after him with Wayne Dumond?
I wonder who (if anyone) will be the first Republican to start using the Dumond scandal.
It's the 2nd worse Republican-nominee scandal next to Rudy's shag-gate. The only reason it's not worse is because shag-gate could result in criminal charges.

Club for Growth is also going after Huckabee now in Iowa with a vicious 60-second ad.

So Governor Huckabee starts really resonating with the American people, and now the club for greed is going for blood and Fred has awaken for a moment from his deep sleep. Oh well the more they attack the more the Governor’s numbers will go up.

I covered Fred Thompson's upstate visit here in SC on Tuesday... huge snore!
No comparison with what I will see tonight at the Ron Paul show, downtown!
Elections are like a circus, and I find I can *not* stay away from these dumb events, being in an early primary state. I assume lots of Iowans feel similarly!

I cannot believe that republicans will not be affected by the Club for Growth ad. They are more manic about opposition to all taxes than they are about abortion or terrorism.
This, however, could hurt Hillary. A huge percentage of her support comes from people who think they are getting another term with Bill as president---and if Thompson makes them think Huckabee is more like Bill than his wife is---they could desert her campaign and participate in the republican caucuses.
Wayne Dumond has about as much interest for republicans as the rape of Juanita Broaddrick has for Naral. In both cases, they think it is just stuff from the other party's extremist wing.Naral does not care about that particular rape, and republicans do not care about this particular incarnation of Willie Horton. Too embarrassing to acknowledge.

Thompson has positives?!? I mean he banged a bunch of D-List actresses and pole-dancers but is that really positive? Nixon said Thompson is 'dumb as a rock' but is that positive. Thompson played a racist leader on the Wise Guy but is that positive?

Love the infighting in the comments over there at Politico! They hate their own candidates - they just can't decide which they hate the least.

I have always voted for a democrat. This year I will vote for Huck. I do not agree with all his positions but I trust him more than any democrat or republican. He will be our next president.
