SC Ministers Say They Didn't Endorse Obama, Despite Being Put On The List

A foul-up by the Obama campaign in South Carolina might be causing some bad publicity in the home stretch. Two ministers have come forward and said they did not endorse Obama, despite their inclusion on a list of endorsements that the campaign had put out, and two others said they affirmed their support only after the campaign called to double-check, with their names already on the list.

It could be that on a list of over 100 endorsements, a few mistakes were bound to happen through honest human error and miscommunication — indeed, the Associated Press notes that the Hillary campaign had the same problem last month with their own list of clergy endorsements in South Carolina. Still, this is hardly the PR that they want in the final weeks before the South Carolina primary, and the final week before Iowa.

If this is the worst press they'll get in the next week, I'll be relieved.

No big deal.

user-pic

Maybe Oprah will make some calls and straighten it all out . . .

user-pic

Do we have to vote for any of these people?

user-pic

Who cares what some ministers say? Each of these people has one vote among of thousands of people who will be voting for Obama in SC.
Adolf, are you in love with Oprah? Grow up dude. Obama does not need anyone to straighten his campain, unlike Hillary who has her husband doing all the work and her claiming the results!

I'm in SC and everybody I talk to are voting for Edwards, Obama doesn't have a lock on anything.

user-pic

ed,

What do you mean by "everyone?" Do you want to say that you have talked to the whole SC democratic party and independents electorate and they are going to vote for Edwards not Obama? Please don't fool anybody, but keep fooling yourself. No offense.

user-pic

Hey, Ed...I'm in SC and I am voting for Obama.

user-pic

So Eric, shouldn't your title correctly read "SC Ministers Say They Didn't Endorse Hillary or Obama, Despite Being Put On Their Lists"? There you go again...shamelessly shilling for Hillary.

user-pic

Gee Eric, strain at gnats often?

[Adorable!]

Obama is little substance, all hype. The key to his success: a freshness, a lack of record to run on, the constant repetition of simple feel-good platitudes that lull listeners into a sense of trust and induce in them a yearning to believe. No wonder Barack Obama is so popular among denizens of Hollywood like Oprah: they certainly have an eye for those who can create an image, can generate a buzz that compels others to suspend their disbelief, and who can induce a trance-like stargazing. But the fact is that Barack Obama does have a record to run on and its a record of vote dodging and triangulation. Barack Obama talks about the audacity of hope... but how about the audacity to show up and vote.. and not criticize others over resolutions you conveniently missed while campaigning

The Chicago Sun-Times carried the story: I was elected yesterday, Obama said. I have never set foot in the U.S. Senate. Ive never worked in Washington. And the notion that somehow Im immediately going to start running for higher office just doesnt make sense. So look, I can unequivocally say I will not be running for national office in four years, and my entire focus is making sure that Im the best possible senator on behalf of the people of Illinois. He further elaborated: Look, I’, a state senator who hasn’t even been sworn in yet. My understanding is that I will be ranked 99th in seniority. . . I’m going to be spending the first several months of my career in the U.S. Senate looking for the washroom and trying to figure out how the phones work.

So, in four years, Obama went from figuring out how to use the telephones and finding bathrooms, to becoming a foreign policy expert, while missing 1/3 of his votes and failing to hold a single hearing as a Senate Foreign Relations committee member. Right… When Oprah went down to Obama, there was all this Obama is the messiah hype. They were acting as he was some Messiah. Maybe he is.. maybe he can become an expert while not holding any hearings.

Obamahype and Obamaoverrated,

So since Hillary claims to have her husband experience then I should claim to have my wife experience on my resume! Please post something with substance instead of repeating Clinton/republican talking points. You (Clintons and their acolytes) are destroying the Democratic party.

jeanba,

Why do you assume that someone who criticizes Obama is a Hillary supporter? Why not answer the criticism instead?

I swear, the common reply of Obama supporters to criticism is that it must be a sign of a Hillary conspiracy or just a result of blind hatred.

I, for one, am firmly opposed to Hillary and, thus, can't stand the fact that Obama has a record strikingly similar to Clinton. This man who called her out for the Kyl-Lieberman vote had not only conveniently failed to miss voting against the bill he deemed "reckless," but also earlier co-sponsored a bill (S970; Iran Counter Proliferation Act) that used the same language in labeling Iran's Revolutionary Guard as sponsors of terrorism. This is just one of many issues that bothers me about his candidacy.

Folks need to remember..the real closing argument for Iowa will be January 1st debate.
This one will be the last time a candidate can really sell their
"I am the only candidate who........."

Too bad Edwards couldn't help out in 2004 by delivering either the state he was born in (SC) or the state he represented in the Senate (NC). That would have been nice.

user-pic

Too bad John Kerry was the PRESIDENTIAL nominee in 2004. We won't have that problem this time.
