Romney: Huckabee Sounds Like An Anti-Bush Democrat On Foreign Policy
Mitt Romney has found a new angle for attacking Mike Huckabee in Iowa — going after Huckabee's Foreign Affairs essay, in which Huck rejected large portions of the neoconservative program and even said, "The Bush administration's arrogant bunker mentality has been counterproductive at home and abroad."
"I can't believe he'd say that. I'm afraid he's running from the wrong party," Romney told an Iowa crowd. "I had to look again — did this come from Barack Obama or from Hillary Clinton? Did it come from John Edwards? No, it was Governor Huckabee."
Romney then pledged his fealty to the Bush foreign policy agenda: "I'm the last person to say that this administration is subject to an arrogant, bunker mentality that is counterproductive here and abroad. The truth of the matter is this president has kept us safe these past six years and that has not been easy to do."
This is a good move on Romney's part. By identifying himself with the previous administration, and tarring Huckabee as a clean, fresh break with the past, Romney will be able to bank on Bush's massive popularity among both Republicans and Democrats and the unambiguous success of the Iraq war. I imagine that tying his fortunes to the current President this way will continue to help Romney even into the general election!

Actually, Hillary Clinton has been at pains to contend that she will not break with the neocon, preconditions-based approach to diplomacy favored by the Bush administration.

Seems this is all they care about is their so called 'loyalty.'
I've heard McCain say it many times, but I'd like to ask him if there's any loyalty left to what may be the right thing to do, some loyalty to the people, or country.... nah.

A deft move by Huckabee. He stakes out another popular position, that the current foreign policy is not suited to todays needs. He also pushes Romney et al to defend Bushs unpopular policies.
Romney attacked Obama for being tough on Iran, now attacks Huckabee as too weak on Iran. Mitt says whatever the situation dictates. A man of unwavering principles he's not.
