Poll: Hillary And Obama Tied In South Carolina

The new SurveyUSA poll in South Carolina shows a dead heat between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Hillary has 41%, with Obama at 39%, and Edwards with 17%.

In their poll last week, Hillary had 44%, Obama 40%, and Edwards 11%.

Maybe he's aware of a new Bimbo Eruption that hasn't hit the press yet. Certainly they would have put it out there given how tough they are on Hillary.

While Edwards get's no credit for gaining 6 points vs the collective loss of 4 by the leaders. Did he close the gap? By no means, but upward movement early is a nice thing to have should he come out of Iowa and maybe even New Hampshire a winner.

"Certainly they would have put it out there given how tough they are on Hillary."

It's time for you Hillarybots to stop whining about the treatment she is getting in the media. In the last month, a major NYTimes columnist has went on a personal crusade against Obama; a EX-PRESIDENT was given a full hour to trash Obama; and an ex-Senator was allowed to insinuate that Obama was a fifth column Muslim infiltrator in the major media.

Since I'm an Obama supporter, I won't even go into the fact that, when they are not ignoring Edwards, they are making fun of his mansion and his expensive haircuts.

Quit your bitching. The reason your girl is losing is because she represents a tired status quo that has been exposed as ineffective and corrupt. As people wake up from the Bush nightmare, they are beginning to remember that her husband was a mediocre (at best) president who governed like a moderate Republican. Too bad, losers.

First off, she's not losing. That's a joke. She's actually pulling away in Iowa and her national lead is commanding and growing. And secondly, we've been complaing about the nasty comments like yours. Hillary is status quo? Obama is the one who voted present 130 times (see link below), what a Profile in Courage! His health care plan is meek & weak. He's a biography candidate with very little substance, able to arouse the Nader/Dean croud by talking about 'corruption' and Washington and the status quo, but there's very little courage or conviction in his policies. No wonder Krugman went after him. Hillary is going to be the Democratic nominee and the first woman president. Be careful how much blood you draw lest we hand the election to the Repbulicans.

Did you even read the post this thread is attached to? If you haven't, it's about Hillary's lead SHRINKING in SC.

And, while you may point to Obama's ineffectiveness as a Senator (which I wholeheartedly disagree with), name one significant political acheivement that Hillary can point to. Talk about an empty (pants)suit. She's running on experience that doesn't exist and strength that she's never displayed.

Surviving Republican smears is not the same as beating them politically. During the Clinton years (1992 - present) this country has subjected to an increasingly fanatical rightwing style of governance. Hillary has done absolutely nothing to change that.

For the life of me, I don't undertsand how liberals want to reward someone who, when not actively enabling the rightwing agenda, was totally ineffective in opposing it.

Oh yeah she is not losing? Look at trends Puppy she is losing big. And by the way, using racism is ok for Hillary and Bill but not ok for GOP. As an Iraq veteran, I will never vote for Hillary either primary or general election. I pray and hope, work to make sure she does not get the nomination. Wake up people, this woman will make democrats majority in Congress disappear if she gets the nomination (good thing she won't). Polls are one indicator in many on how people might vote, they don't explain the whole picture. And for us with statistical analysis knowledge we know that polling methedology are not perfect and depending on the pollster they can be manipulated. Democrats, wake up, stop Hillary and her smear campaign. Anyone watched Clinton on Charlie Rose, who the f...ck Clinton think he is? A God? I trust American people they will do the right thing as they did in 2006, they won't buy Clinton lies. Let's move forward, Clinton you are the past, Barack, Edwards, Biden, Dodd you are the future.

Accusing the Clintons' of racism is like accusing Bush of being an environmentalist; it shows your desperation. I work with statistics on a daily basis. I understand trend lines. I'd rather be Hillary's place than Obama’s. No outlier will change the fact she leads in 32 out of 34 states. She has a 20 to 30 point lead in all the national polls. She’s regained her lead in Iowa and New Hampshire (now double digit). The celebrity fest still lingers in S.C. Watch for that to fade too. Get your head out of your ax: Bill Clinton is a god to many Democrats, the last progressive president since John Kennedy.

Sure, I dare say Obama would as well. Everyone running for office prefers to be ahead, especially as the election draws near.

Well, on that we will have to disagree. It is very much an open question whether that lead in later states will hold up if Obama or Edwards start racking up leads in early states. All of Dean's momentum vanished in a flash when Kerry won a few early races. I am not saying that I know she will lose, but I cannot see how anyone could claim with a straight face to know that Sen Clinton will win.

Hillary will not be the Dem nominee.

That's my prediction. It may be Edwards or Obama (and I like both, in that order).

BluePuppy,

If it makes you feel good to think that Hillary is winning great, but for me and for many people she is not. Again polls, trends can be interpreted either way depending on one's bias, yours assume that Hillary is winning fine, good for you if it makes your day, but really you are dreaming.
In my army division, at least 9 out of 10 soldiers democrats I have spoken to, them and their families have vowed not to vote for Hillary if she wins the nomination. And let me address the issue of racism, the "drug dealer" meme by Shaheen what did you thing it meant? At least to black men? Last Bill Clinton might be a god for you but not for me and for many democrats. Go Edwards, Barack, Dodd or Biden, Denis but not Hillary. American people will speak soon and you (Hillary supporters) will find that you were in the tiny minority.

I cannot even start to imagine Hillary
for a week as president let alone four years.

Eight years of Bush and then her.

Please no.

Does anyone know about the Edwards

off shore hedge fund scandal which was supposedly tied to sub prime loan debacle.

I've been told there was a cover-up but have not seen anything in the main stream media.

Can anyone link me to some updated info on this???

Thanks

The next time Blue Puppy or any of the other Hillbots who frequent this site makes a case *on the merits* for Our Lady of Perpetual Triangulation, will be the first. The same could be said of the next time she shows any political courage or leadership on anything.

And your calling Obama a "biography candidate" is rather rich; tell me, were Hillary Clinton named "Hillary Smith," would she even be holding office? Polls show that the most common reason people who support her do so is because she's the wife of former President Clinton. And the reason he remains popular is because he has, or had, the political skills she so evidently lacks.

This isn't to say Hillary is unintelligent, or that she'd be as bad as Bush. She's not, and she wouldn't. But she is, essentially, a moderate Republican--who's perceived as the most liberal of Democrats by half the country. She's the least likely Democrat to win, and if she does win, the least likely to govern successfully--because to do that, you need to have some ability to move opinion and votes beyond your universe of confirmed supporters. (See Bush, George W.)

Also, if you've enjoyed the zero-sum, gridlocked, scat-throwing politics of the last 20 years of BushClintonBush, you'll surely love the next four of Clinton. Just don't get too attached to that Democratic congressional majority, because she'll lose that as fast as Billy did in '94--only probably moreso.

I am tired of Hillary supporters attacking Barack and Edwards, please any dissent progressive or liberal do not vote for this woman in the primary or even the general, write in your pet or your husband, wife, girlfriend or yourself. She is as a republican even worse. Do you guys remember when MSM called her the iron lady? Please do not let her drag down our Congress majority, she should not win the nomination, Barack, Edwards, Dodd, Biden even Denis are better candidates. IA, NH, SC are you listening? I have trust in the democrats that they will do the right thing by not voting this woman, she should come in 4th in IA or even 6th.

Kids, kids, kids! Can't we take it down a notch? Can we as Democrats stipulate that Hillary is a policy brainiac, would make a perfectly good president, and to some measure has earned every Democrat's goodwill by standing up to right wing smears for the past 15 years, AND handling her husband's infidelity with public composure and decorum? And that Obama is clearly a brilliant politician, a charismatic orator, and appeals across all sociological and political lines? And that Edwards is a talented advocate for the needs and concerns of average people, who can speak to their hearts and minds in an unparalled manner?

It isn't necessary to trash the other candidates, and it's ridiculous to assault Hillary by using right wing talking points against her.

All that said, take a look at the latest Gallup "favorable/unfavorable" numbers on pollingreport.com. In case you missed it:

Favorable/Unfavorable:
Hillary--51/48
Edwards--53/33
Obama--57/30
(McCain--54/30; Rudy--50/41; Huck--34/24; Mitt--32/34)

It's inescapable that Hillary is going to have a very tough time winning the general election. She starts off with 48 percent of the people viewing her unfavorably. That's quite a lot of lead in the saddle bags at the start of a horse race!
