New Romney Ad: Huckabee Is Soft On Crime
Mitt Romney has a new ad in Iowa depicting himself as tough on crime, and attacking Mike Huckabee's record. Although the ad doesn't get too specific — it doesn't mention the Dumond case — it does go after Huckabee's knack for commuting sentences:
"On crime," the announcer says, "the difference is judgment."

Well that's not a very Christmasy ad.

My understanding of propaganda is that it's more effective to take a single example and play it for the max emotional effect.
So, Romney's team has constructed a less effective commercial than they could have.
Why would they do it this way?
Could it be that Willard "Mitt" Romney is too scared of offending the rabid Clinton haters?
Is there another explanation that makes sense?
What's it say about Romney that he's such a wimp?
Not a single pardon? There had to be some deserving case that Romney should have pardoned, but he was afraid.

With an eye already obviously on his future presidential campaign, Romney chose not to pardon some Innocence Project cases (i.e. DNA evidence proved some people not guilty of the crime of which they had been convicted) in Massachusetts, meaning that innocent people sat behind bars for longer than necessary until judges finally overturned the convictions.
I wonder what Iowa Republicans will think if the Romney and "Have a Very Huckabee Christmas" ads come on back-to-back.
