Top Iowa Story: Edwards Doesn't Talk About Experience With Kerry
Here's today's key story out of the Iowa local press: The Des Moines Register reports that John Edwards makes a point of not talking about his time as John Kerry's 2004 running mate, or any lessons he might have learned from it. Meanwhile, people around him — including his Iowa co-chairman as well as his own father — openly say he would have won if he'd been the 2004 presidential nominee.
"I've made it a practice not to go back and analyze the campaign," Edwards told the paper. "I don't think there's anything to be gained from it. I don't. I'm sure you can get lots of other people to do it."

In 2004 I thought Edwards was absolutely awful in the VP debate with Dick Cheney. Dick Cheney lied to his face during the debate (pretending he had never met Edwards before) and Edwards failed to call him out on it. (No chance to check with his advisors. Best to just play it safe.) The next morning there were photos circulating showing Cheney & Edwards together, proving that Cheney was lying.
Imagine instead Edwards turning to Cheney and calling him a bald faced liar during the debate on national television, with the photos to back him up the next morning. But that's not the way it happened. Ever since I can't look at Edwards without seeing the red handprint of Dick Cheney on the side of his face.

We waited with much anticipation for the Edwards/Cheney VP "debate".........Edwards folded like a cardboad lawnchair when he SHOULD have had that lyin thug by the scruff if the neck. A gutless display, Kerry wasnt the only wimp on the ticket.
Soured us on Edwards- permanently.

Polls taken after the event showed that voters thought Edwards won the VP debate, for whatever winning a VP debate is worth.

That's okay, Kerry doesn't mention him much either.

I sure wouldn't mention it. The man who surrendered to the loser.

The blogosphere proves once more that big people sitting behind computer screens have an avenue to show just how small they can be.

Preach it, brother. That was a hugely disappointing debate; for some reason I had gone into it thinking Edwards would crush the Darth Cheney.

Edwards never talks about his 2004 campaigns or his time in the Senate. Yet he talks about trials he won years ago as if that was a qualification to be president.
He says he does not make it a practice to go back and analyze the campaign. That is a mistake because he does not seem to have learned from it and is running the same type of campaign that lost in 2004.
After the debate with Cheney, there was a mix of polls. Some showed Edwards winning and some showed Cheney winning. The problem is that Cheney is one of the most unpopular figures of our time. If he debated a vacumn cleaner, thirty-two percent would say the vacumn cleaner won.
My memories of that debate was that Edwards was always behind the curve and having to go back and answer or amend his answers to previous questions as a new question was being asked. He made Cheney look like a statesman while he looked like a men's suit salesman.

Edwards is THE STRONGEST CANDIDATE because of his PRIOR EXPERIENCE AGAINST THE BUSH MAFIA. Kerry's people quite obviously ordered him to remain "positive" in 2004, but after Edwards wins Iowa and coasts to the nomination, the gloves will be off.
As if Clinton or Obama has taken on Cheney face to face. John Edwards deserves a second chance, brothers and sisters. Please don't be such smug jerks, are you really like this in real life ? If so, it is obvious your friends and relatives have long since abandoned you.
