Thompson Backers Suffering From Buyer's Remorse
Several Fred Thompson endorsers in the House have told CQ — under condition of anonymity, of course — that they're frustrated with him and his campaign, and one even regrets backing him. "I think he's kind of done a belly flop," one of them said. "We’ll just wait till after Feb. 5 because I think he’s going to get beat."
Remember that Thompson was endorsed by many of these people before he'd even declared his candidacy, because conservatives had been looking for a stronger candidate. And so far, they're not getting it.

The righties are desperate for another Reagan. Hey, he's an actor, too. Or as the woman said in a Simpson's episode "I love that I've heard of you."
Without a script and cue cards, Fred's just an avatar, a movable icon in the GOP's game of Second Life. Only slightly more articulate than the current occupant.
All they have is a bunch of candidates falling over each other to be the most authoritarian. So far Rudy's leading the pack.
Hey, Fred, get some upper teeth, why don't ya?

At least one of Thompson's Tennessee backers, Rep. John Duncan, says his views are more closely aligned with Ron Paul (http://www.antiwar.com/orig/cdavis.php?articleid=11038) but that he only endorsed Thompson because he had a chance to win.
Seeing as how the Thompson campaign has fizzled while Ron Paul is setting fundraising records, he may be reconsidering.
