Technology Advocate Lessig Endorses Obama
Stanford professor Lawrence Lessig, one of the founders of the Creative Commons movement and a leading intellectual and legal proponent of free information and open government, has endorsed Barack Obama.
"After the debacle that is the last 7 years, the duty is upon the Democrats to be something different ... I would give my left arm to be able to celebrate their difference," Lessig writes. "This man, Mr. Obama, would be that difference. He has as much support as I can give."

While we need a Democrat in the White House and if Barack Obama gets the nomination I would support him very much, what about what happens until Jan 2009. We need progressive action now.
I have started a new political party called the Liberal Democratic Party of the United States. You can read the web page at http://www.dmocrats.org and you will find that this party works differently from other political parties. Take a look and help enact progressive legislation and end the war where you work as a legislator and you vote on legislation.

We need a progressive, pro-active Democrat as the next President . . . While Obama appears to not be that person . . . I will also support him should he become our nominee for November 2008.

Richard, I am leaning towards obama. Why do you say that he is not a progressive, pro-active democrat? He seems to be the most authentic and real progressive, pro-active democrat out of the front runners?

LDPotUS, you're right about needing change, but the last thing we need are the filthy Liberal Democratic Partier's in power. The Progressively-Liberal Democratic Party of the People, unlike the treacherous LDPotUS, supports a push for a $11/HR MIN. WAGE, and encourages party members to call corporate dictators from the tyrannical Burger King, McDonalds, CVS and Duane Reade companies demanding action. LDPotUS' reckless leadership suggests we turn against our longtime Liberal Democratic United States allies at Wendy's and Rite Aid.
I'm creating a new political party, splintering from the petty, incompetent Liberal Democratic Part of the United States, themselves splintered from the Democratic Party of the United States, to form a brave new coalition of the willing. Check out my brand new website, to find out what makes us better than the misguided, dangerous LDPotUS and Democratic party.

I remember 4 years ago, Howard Dean guest blogged for Lessig. That was about the time he really started picking up steam. I wouldn't underestimate Lessig's pull with the cyber-punk community.

Using the power of communication technology to improve democracy and counter secrecy in government. Yes, Obama is the bold comprehensive thinker. I suspect that Robert McChestney will endorse Obama's plan.
