New Yorkers, next time, vote Green!*

*Unless it's a close race, of course, although that would be hard to imagine...

Wow! You mean Jim Webb didn't vote to confirm? But you kept saying he was on the fence. Undecided. May have voted TO confirm.

...

F'n idjits

Bettors in Britain cleaned up on the sure thing DOWN vote of Jim Webb.

Why do people keep calling Lieberman Democrat? Officially, he is an independent Democrat, an ID. This is actually the root of the problem with Iraq policy. In terms of everything dealing with Iraq, Lieberman aligns with the Republicans so they, not Democrats, have an effective majority. So How can anyone blame the Democrats for not being able to challenge Bush more effectively on Iraq policy. The Democratic majority is a pure fantasy in terms of Iraq policy.

I am surprised with Bayh's voting to confirm the new AG. Is not he angling for a VP nod?

Ditto. Lieberman is not a Democrat. Six Democrats voted for confirmation, not seven. Please correct.

Mary Landrieu (Louisiana)???

It's be shock to me that after Katrina, that Louisiana would give Republicans the time of day.

Dems could have owned that issue, instead of backing out, walking out, folding up the table.

Howard Dean really screwed up, not talking to Louisiana, not showing a Dem face with support packages. They could have turned Louisiana so blue it glowed.

Shame on you Howard Dean.

So, the next time I get an email from the DSCC signed by Schumer, I'm supposed to do what with it?

P.S. -- I thought Mukasey would have gotten a few more Blue Dog Democrats (are THEY not Democrats either?) but at least none of the DEMOCRATS running for President thought it was important enough to vote against confirmation.

That's nuts. You mean an Independent Democrat beat a What? Dependent Democrat? to retain his Senate seat. Horsehockey. Lie--Berman is no more a Democrat than Dick Cheney. If he calls himself an Independent Democrat he should be sued. If someone else is calling him that, they should be taken aside and educated.

Please feel free to "take aside and educate" the official Senate Historian:

"It's be shock to me that after Katrina, that Louisiana would give Republicans the time of day."

-- Some data on how much "time of day" Louisianans are giving to Republicans:

Republican Governor-elect, Bobby Jindal received 54% of the vote; his closest Dem. challenger got 17%.
Secretary of State Dardenne (63% of the vote).
The race for Attorney General is going to a runoff (1 Dem versus 1 Repub.)
Senator Vitter (Yes, THAT Sen. Vitter; the client of the D.C. madam) ... still there.
The state's 5 Republican congressional representatives (out of 7 total; 71%) ALL won reelection in 2006.
The 44 (out of 105; 42%) state representatives.
The 14 (out of 39; 36%) state senators.
In the 2006 election the GOP retained all of its seats in the state legislature.
In 2007 open primary voting, Republicans either won or are going to runoffs in 17 state senate and 42 state house races; in 13 house and 6 senate districts NO other party challenged the Republicans.
33% of registered voters in Louisiana are Republicans (42% Democrat; 25% third party or no party).

I'm shocked that people who do no research post comments that make little sense. As if all (or ANY) of the GOP candidates from LA were responsible for the failures of FEMA and/or the president. Guilt by association, anyone? What would your reaction be if someone were to suggest that nobody should vote for a Democrat in LA because of the scandal surrounding Rep. Bill '$90k in the freezer, indicted on 16 federal counts' Jefferson? He was reelected in 2006 too. He won a close runoff election against a DEMOCRAT challenger who lost because she dared criticize local officials for THEIR FAILURES during Katrina. Irony and hypocrisy, anyone?

Oh, for goodness sake. Let's not play the juvenile game of pretending that Joe Lieberman is a species of Democrat, genus "independent." Lieberman was defeated for the Democratic nomination. He established a third party, the "Independent Democrat" party, as a vehicle for re-election. He won as a third-party candidate and chooses to caucus with Democrats. But if he changed his mind and decided to caucus with Republicans, he would not have to change party registration.

While I intensely dislike Joe Lieberman, I would be the first to acknowledge that he did nothing shameful in winning election on a ticket of his own creation. That's politics. But Lieberman is no more a member of the Democratic party than is Bernie Sanders. Eric, please correct...
