Schumer And Feinstein Voting For Mukasey
Michael Mukasey is now guaranteed a majority of votes in the Senate, with Democrats Chuck Schumer (NY) and Dianne Feinstein (CA), who both serve on the Judiciary Committee, announcing they will vote yes.
Here's our continually-updated vote chart:

The methodology is explained here.

With friends like these...
Does anyone know what the original Schumer - Mukasey connection was anyway?
A few more votes like this and Feinstein may become vulnerable on her left. I'm sure there are more than a few potential candidates in Cali who could self-finance.

Pathetic, spineless politicians. I am sick that they would vote for anothe AG like Gonzales. It is incomprehensable that the future AG of America cannot say that waterboarding is or is not torture.Shame on you.

Deciding whether waterboarding is torture really isn't that difficult as long as someone has the courage to stand up to say so. Perhaps some of the Democrats are actually castrati...
It's sad that so many of our elected officials don't care that this nation has apparently lost our way.

What was the purpose of the 2006 election if it wasn't to stop the abuse of power that has been the practice of the Bush administration? I am ashamed that I ever voted for Schumer to be my senator.

Well they did get rid of Gonzales. And this guy, for all his faults, does appear to be a rung or two up the evolutionary ladder from Fredo.
I was actually thinking this morning that Bush could really lay to rest all my concerns about waterboarding by simply undergoing the procedure himself on national TV -- you know, just to prove how safe, humane and effective (and totally not torture) it is.

Not to be pedantic, but voting to let him get to the floor is not the same as voting for him once he gets to the floor. Its been known to happen that they vote one way in committee and the other way on the actual vote to confirm.
Not that I expect the Stepford Senator or the Other Very Serious Senator from New York to do that, based on their statements. Especially Feinstein. Still, theoretically it could happen.

Whore Feinstein and her husband are war profiteers. She's as sleazy as they come.

The Congressional Democratic Party has proved to be useless.
We need to make a whip count of the relatively consistent good guys (Feingold, Dodd) and split the party. Schumer and Feinstein are deadwood at this point.

Feinstein has had a viscious right streak for decades and she has never been the vunerable Senator in California. She is honest and unwavering. She was right of middle of the road before it was vogue.
California is America made small:
The 'blue' sections are blue to the point that they are almost black.
The 'red' sections are red to the point that they are almost black.
California is Metro vs Rural.
Look at how many of the CREW bad guys have come from CA.
This is why the Darrell Issa / Arnold Electorial College Rigging is so scary. I can just imagine the influx of flight-over state folk trying to turn counties red . . .

Can someone please convince me that Chuck and Difi would have voted for this guy if he was latino? Just like AGAG was protecting his pal W, here is Chuck protecting his pal (and damning everyone else). in other wprds chuck is exactly like AGAG.
Also does Chuck not have a clear conflict of interest. he should refrain from voting as he is not in a position to objectively assess the candidate.

This implicates Schumer in the 9/11 plot which Mukasey is neck deep in.
