Rudy: Piece On My Taxpayer-Funded Trysts Was Political "Hit Job"

CNN has a new Rudy response to the big Politico story suggesting that his trysts with Judi were done on the taxpayers' dime:

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Republican Rudy Giuliani denied any wrongdoing related to his travel expenses to the Hamptons when he was mayor of New York, and said the story was a 'hit job' likely fueled by opposition research from a rival campaign.

"I thought the way the story was presented was like a hit job," the presidential candidate told CNN's John Roberts after the CNN/YouTube debate Wednesday night. "Coming two hours before this debate, I kind of got the idea that it was not a legitimate story."

Maybe the story is all Hillary's fault?

Late Update: The writer of the piece, Ben Smith, has now responded to the Rudy camp's pushback, pointing out that the Rudy crew has yet to explain "why these expenses were billed to obscure City Hall offices rather than, for example, directly to the Mayor's office, which has its own line within the budget of the Mayoralty."

The truth is always a hit job.

It's not yet, but give him some time...

I e-mailed the Washington Post, asking them whether they'd be doing a piece on the factual information about Giuliani's shagalicious trips. I figured it was the least that the Post could do since they devoted so much space to printing crap about rumors about Barack Obama, but oddly enough, they haven't gotten back to me.

Lets see. He had a noun and a verb, but something seems to be missing. I can't quite figure it out.

Maybe it was the Islamofascists who planted the story.

I cannot believe anyone could hold Hillary responsible for this. Giuliani is the only piece of sheet, sickeningly, disgustingly, dishonest enough that Hillary has a chance to beat in the ge.

It is vital to her candidacy that he be nominated.

If the expenses for your tryst somehow get billed to the disabled you probably need a better excuse than claiming that it becoming public was probably the fault of an opposing campaign.

This 'hey you can't blame me I'm the one who did it but they told' line is ridiuculous.

as the great philosopher taught us: "Marge, it takes two people to lie: One to lie, and one to listen."

Help me out people. Isn't this the second time Rudy has stated that a story was not a "legitimate" story????? I can't think of what it was just now, but I swear he has used the same term when a negative story has come out about him. Wish I had Lexis Nexis now.

I just remembered. He said the same thing when the Judith Regan suit was filed claiming a Fox news executive was pushing Rudy's candidacy and she was told to lie on Rudy's behalf. Roger Ailes didn't want to hurt Rudy's chances at the Presidency.

"I thought the way the story was presented was like a hit job" is not the same as saying "it's not true."
