Poll: McConnell Ahead But Under 50% Against Two Dems

A new Rasmussen poll in Kentucky finds Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) polling under 50% against two well-known Democrats.

Against state Attorney General Greg Stumbo, McConnell is ahead 48%-41%. McConnell leads state Auditory Crit Luallen 49%-39%. Although McConnell is ahead, a four-term incumbent should normally be expected to poll at over 50%.

A key figure from the poll: Among respondents, 37% want the troops out of Iraq within the next year, and another 22% want them out immediately.

Stumbo lost in the Democratic primary this year for Lt. Governor, and is currently exploring the Senate race. Luallen is expected to be easily re-elected to her current position this Tuesday.

Even in KY the dems have a majority, but you need to vote to have en effect on an election. People should but dont seem to learn from how Rudy lied & said/did anything to get elected mayor where dems are a far majority & of course there are many examples of how repub's have gotten into office by smearing others, somehow this works, it's sad. But at least I hope the people of NYC are getting a good look at who they elected for so many years. I dont see how such a fascist like Rudy can get elected in NYC. Guess the same way Romney was elected as the gov of Mass. I hope the dems will finally get out next year & vote or take advantage of the absentee option for a change. The repubs are by far a minority, but, they vote! If they win elections, it's because non-repub's let them!

Send in Howard Dean, time to clean house of ugly GOP Bushism. Why don't we libs just buy up some billboards, start small and build a Tsunami.

Repugs bought up the media, but it didn't fool all the people all the time.

Time to turn the tide, turn it into a tidal wave.

And I believe it could be,
some day it's going to come

Cause out on the edge of darkness,
there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country,
come take me home again

--Lyrics from Cat Stevens, "Peace Train".

If only conservative didn't want to destroy American.

Now come and join the living,
it's not so far from you
And it's getting nearer,
soon it will all be true

Now I've been crying lately,
thinking about the world as it is...

Cause it's getting nearer,
it soon will be with you

The DSCC needs to really invest early in this race financially and on the ground. McConnell is going to have buckets of cash and the national GOP in his corner, but this loser senator can be unseated if the right moves are made. This would be poetic justice considering what happened to Tom Daschle.

Mitch will be defeated in 2008.

Lt. Col. Andrew Horne is the man that will beat him.

This will probably be the worst it gets for McConnell because these polls are being taken during a gubernatorial race where the incumbent GOP governor is very unpopular and will lose decisively next Tuesday. McConnell is actually up closer to fifty percent than he was in a similar poll published on this site a week or so ago.

The best the Democrats can do in this race is to make it competitive and force McConnell and the Republicans to spend more money on it that they could spend on other races.
