Poll: Majority Of Iowa Republicans Favors Withdrawal From Iraq In Six Months

From the new Strategic Vision poll of Iowa voters (via email):

When Republicans were asked if they favored a withdrawal from Iraq in the next six months, 53% said yes; 36% said no; and 11% were undecided.

A majority of Iowa Republicans wants to pull out "in the next six months"? Is there anyone -- save Ron Paul -- representing these people? Is there anyone left -- save GOP elected officials -- who wants us to stay in Iraq?

Yeah there is and his name is obama. 39% of republicans support him for president. If obama gets the nod, look out landslide in 08.

I am registered Independent, and I realize the need for the U.S. to stay in Iraq longer than six more months.

Three great questions, Greg.

You have now redeemed yourself for that silly show earlier with parsing the words of Senator Edwards…

Jake D wrote on November 13, 2007 8:08 PM:

Well, sure, I also "want" to pull out -- I also "want" money to grow on trees -- but I realize that neither is possible given the situation in Iraq. I believe both Hillary and Obama share that view.

Yes.

Democrats seeking the Democratic Party nomination.

Tiresome GOP shills that post Noise Machine talking points on this site want the war to go on.

This shill will support WHATEVER Bush has done and said.

Does he think Cheney is swell, too ?

I bet a coke he does.

Jake D wrote on November 13, 2007 11:36 PM:

Mine is not a talking point -- Obama REFUSED to tell Tim Russert (three times) how many troops he would take out of Iraq -- check the MTP transcript if you don't believe me.

kenga wrote on November 14, 2007 8:39 AM:

Obama refused to give Timmeh the "gotcha" answer he was fishing for. Instead of foolishly providing a numerical figure, Obama told him he would restate the mission as limited to protecting US diplomatic missions, counter-terrorism support and maximizing the numbers of troops that could be withdrawn, and that he would seek the advice of military commanders as to the number of troops needed for that.
Which is a sensible answer, if one's starting assumption is that ALL troops cannot be withdrawn without damaging the little progress made thus far.

Away from the Jakin' D.'s nonsenese . . . and back to the story . . . Of course, the majority of Iowan Republicans are against Bush's pretense for war powers and the Iraqi Occupation; They are Americans.

Back to the guy who can't reach hisself but can reach the keyboard and therefore needs to get attention from all of us . . . Jake! You have reached abby-noxious state of being. You are even bothering me. Try the less is more thingy. Stop sloganeering and bomb dropping. Try contributing an actual point of view by telling us what you thing and why. Take a pointer from the faultering effectiveness of the Bush Adminstration's annual tay-er-er alert for Xmas.

You are not convincing anybody. I recognize that you have zero intention towards persausion . . . But I would relish the opportunity for interchanges with someone of a different mindset. Please stop wasting the opportunity that this forum provides us.

Thank you for agreeing with me. I never said that Obama didn't give a reasonable evasion -- not only do I agree with him that some minimum number of troops need to stay in Iraq, but I think we need more troops -- nonetheless, in a thread below, someone had claimed that Obama ANSWERED DIRECTLY every question Tim asked Sunday. I was simply pointing out the truth (as you have conceded) that Obama refused to answer that particular question.

Richard:

I would gladly answer any "serious" discussion question you have.

Richard, the problem with jake d is that you won't get a serious answer. Just ignore him and eventually he will go away and annoy people on another website.

Jake D wrote on November 14, 2007 10:59 AM:

Thank you, Anonymous -- I respectfully direct your attention to the last question posed in the original topic: "Is there anyone left -- save GOP elected officials -- who wants us to stay in Iraq?" As pointed out, above, neither Senator Obama (Democrat) nor I (Independent) are in said "majority" -- we both want us to stay in Iraq -- the majority is not always right, thankfully.

and because of the horrible selection of republican presidential candidates, the majority of iowa r's will stay home instead of voting for romney or guiliani in nov '08. thankfully.

Par for the Mittster, Romney's web site has plenty of bromides about fighting jihadiin and keeping American safe and secure, but precious few specifics (that I could find in the short perusal that was as much as I could stomach). I note as well that the site contains no specific Iraq 'issue,' link; he's taken the GWOT schtick to such a level that the war in Iraq doesn't even warrant a separate section.

Well now we know why Rudy skip out of Iowa.

It's was a lost cause no matter what for that pro-war, pro-torture guy, I mean, since there seems to be a serious lack of loyal Bushites.

I wonder what WP columnist Broder would have say about all those Repugs who are with Bush, or do support Bush right NOW.

And when Dick Cheney said: "We didn't get elected to worry just about the fate of the Republican Party" just who exactly did Bush and Cheney get elected to represent?

Themselves?

Doesn't Jake D have a job or homework to do, or does he get paid for this?

markg8 wrote on November 14, 2007 12:24 PM:

"Indepedents" like Jake will immediately call for an to the occupation of Iraq (if it hasn't ended) by then as soon as Obama is sworn into office. Then when he does end it they'll immediately start blaming Barrack for "losing" Iraq.
