Fletcher Camp Denies Involvement In Robocall

Governor Ernie Fletcher's (R-KY) campaign has denied any involvement with the fraudulent robocall going out against Democratic nominee Steve Beshear.

"Absolutely not," communications director Jason Keller told Election Central. "That call that went out is in no connection and by no authorization of our campaign."

He also added, "We have no idea who might have done that call."

"To be honest with you, I haven't heard the call myself," said Keller. "If I had, I don't recall what it said."

Keller also denied that there was any sort of innuendo when Robbie Rudolph, Fletcher's running mate, referred to the Democratic ticket as "a couple of San Francisco treats." Keller said the line "was not in any way an allegation of them being homosexuals. That was an allusion that the Beshear/Mongiardo campaign, and Steve Beshear, is far out of touch with Kentucky's values."

This guy doesn't sound like he is very good at his job, since he is quite obviously lying to you in three places and is entirely unconvincing about it.

First, it's clearly done by his supporters, it's scummy, and they aren't calling for it stop.

I haven't heard it and if I did, I don't recall what it said? Ridiculous.

Calling them San Franciso treats isn't a gay slur? Oh, please.

Consensus here in Kentucky is that the perp is Brett Hall, Fletcher's campaign manager in 2003 and press secretary until May 06, when he was fired for throwing the F-bomb at a press conference.

Hall is denying what everybody knows, which is that he's still on Fletcher's payroll.

Check out pageonekentucky.com and bluegrassreport.org - they're both onto Hall.

Surrrreee, he doesn't have any involvement. Of couuuurrrssse, they have no idea who is behind it. And, if you believe that, I have a bridge in the "sanctaury[sic] city" to sell you.

This was posted earlier to another thread, but bears repeating here because it pretty well puts the lie to the Fletcher campaign denials. The fraudulent robocalls came from the same 800 number referenced below.

Isn't the following the smoking gun?

Received a call from this number at 6:15 pm....it was a recorded message from Kentucky Gov Fletcher asking me to vote for him tomorrow. He sounded desperate. I hate numbers like these.
Caller ID: 1-800-611-0244
Caller: Ky Gov Fletcher Relection Campaign

This was posted yesterday (before today's calls) at:

I love it when pols claim their opponent is 'out of touch with (fill in the state) values.' Especially when it is a Republican pushing all the bigot buttons.

"Yes, indeed, my opponent just doesn't get it that we here in the great state of _______ are bigots, racists, sexists, homophobic, zenophobic, and just a litte stupid."
