Dodd Up On The Air In Iowa
Chris Dodd hits the airwaves in Iowa today with this new ad:
The ad is designed to capitalize on the sudden acrimony that's erupted in the Dem primary by saying that while the other Dems proclaim their willingness to fight for results, Dodd himself has gotten them in the Senate. Intriguingly, however, there's no mention of the thing that got him tons of attention in the past couple of weeks: His taking the lead in the battle against telecom immunity by threatening to block the Senate FISA bill, something that prompted similar opposition to telecom immunity from Hillary and Barack Obama.

Finally! a Democrat you don't have to hold your nose to vote for!

He fought hard and gave us 'Every Child Left Behind' too.
I thank the Senator for "No Telecomm Immunity" and "No on Mukasey" but he has to make up for over a decade of rolling over.

Why not Dodd? Man is that ever a slogan. Guilt trip america into voting for you! Plus the delivery is just blooper real bad.
And yeah I actually am a big Dodd fan, but man oh man that was bad.

What? Telecom immunity doesn't merit mentioning in a TV ad in Iowa? Shocking!
The netroots are getting a beltway insider mentality of their own.

The omission of telecom immunity isn't a surprise.
Because this ad is running in Iowa, not on Daily Kos.

Should immigrants who are here illegally be allowed to have driver's licenses?
VOTE TODAY!

Well, that's a quick change of subject, Bang... Of course they should. They shouldn't be here illegally in the first place. Having free trade without the freedom to emigrate is stupid.
Anyway, I'm really disappointed by this. For the many people out there who know they've heard the name Dodd once or twice, a commercial like this ought to at least try to pique their interests. I like Dodd. He's a decent, intelligent, honest politician... a rare breed, especially in the Northeast. Ah well... Is he going to be out by the end of the year? Any guesses?

"...something that prompted similar opposition to telecom immunity from Hillary and Barack Obama."
What? Did I miss where Hillary came out in opposition to telecom immunity? I didn't know she ever made a statement on it one way or the other. Does someone have a link to that, because if so, I need to eat some crow.
I also missed the news that Hillary and Barack are married. Congratulations?
