Thompson: Limbaugh "One Of The Strongest Supporters Of Our Troops"
Fred Thompson has now gotten involved in the Rush Limbaugh "phony soldiers" controversy, putting out this statement defending Limbaugh and attacking the Democrats:
"Congressional Democrats are trying to divert attention from insulting our military leader in Iraq and pandering to the loony left by attacking Rush Limbaugh. He is one of the strongest supporters of our troops, yet Democrats claim he is not being strong enough. I wonder who General Petraeus and his troops think is most supportive."

No doubt, which is why he will be nominated, elected and then re-elected by the whole country, like the current village idiot, while the Naderites, Netroots, and far-left of the Dem party are still looking for their idealogically-pure candidate (with Feingold and Wellstone) before they can vote for a Democrat!

Who cares about "phony soldiers"? Here's the recipe: "Rush is a dirty, whoring, third-world sex tourist. Why else would he bring along contraband Viagra when he goes on a weekend fling to the Dominican Republic?"
Repeat ad nauseam, until the Family Values crowd understands.

Does he know that he is supposed to be "out of character" now and not acting, or is he getting senile like Reagan. Maybe his girlfriend should help him out how Nancy did with Ronald or he can get some cue cards.

If Rush is one of "strongest" supporters of our troops, I am guessing that means he can lift a car clean over his head, or maybe tear a telephone book in half?
Or maybe it means Rush has not one, but two of those yellow "stickers" on his imported car. You know, the magnetic kind he can remove and not damage the paint on his very expensive car, hat only added to our trade imbalance. Some support there, jackass.

I think this is important to deal with because this government has created a permanent divisiveness, a permanent state of war between people in our own society. Thompsen is a tool of that, as is Limbaugh. It is a right wing movement tactic taken to it's utmost extreme in a society that once extolled commonality and fair play. To change our world we must relegate people like Limbaugh to the dustbin of history. He is a hateful, divisive, uninformed and unintelligent pawn in the political game. He has no business addressing our troops on the radio.
Let's open up the channels between all Americans. Work to unite people for common good.
end the divisiveness, change our world

Sad fact is, Fred Thompson has to make statements like this. He can't afford to get on Rush's bad side and remain a viable candidate for the Republican nomination.

It's so dumb to release a statement like that. It just makes him look like a giant idiot. Is Rush really going to talk him up on the radio show now?
Everyone knows that Rush supports the troops only in the sense that he supports more of them dying in the middle of a civil war in Iraq.

It's always a good thing when Grandpa Freddie reveals his true right wing extremist behavior, rather than conceal it the way Bush did.

Fred Thompson is a total loser, has always been a total loser and, by looking at his fundraising and the general sense of apathy he inspires, will continue to be a total loser.

I think Thompson thinks he's still fighting for the Red October. He reminds me of the actor, Gerald McRaney (sp?), the former 'Major Dad' Marine, who was hopping up and down in Florida, bashing Bill Clinton's lack of military service, when it was let out that, oops, he had never been in the service, either, he only play acted that he was. He was never heard from again after that. As for Thompson, try as I might, I can't get into the head of anyone who would think highly of what he said, support him, or believe in it. What's the matter with these people?
October 3, 2007 4:15 PM | Reply | Permalink
Poor Fred. He probably had such high hopes for elevating his campaign without having to get in the pigpen. Now he's slinging up mud as if it were hash. Dead-head Fred must be looking forward to his appearance on the Rush show where the two of them can rehash their collective military experiences - oh, wait - that wouldn't be very good radio. Programmers tend to frown on dead air.

Supposedly, Thompson got a deferment from Vietnam because he had children. That excuse doesn't work well today, at least not for those parents obligated to serve in the Iraq occupation. So he, Rush, George II, Cheney, and many other chicken hawks pushing this war are in the same boat.
I'd be interested in what Thompson would say about Obey's Iraq war tax proposal. Would Thompson be offended because he was being asked to share the sacrifice in Iraq? Perhaps he'll say that sharing the sacrifice is an insult to our military and General Petraeus.

Well since you only broadcast Rush to our troops - why not let them hear both sides and let THEM decide?
Rush does not support the troops - he supports Bush....a man who wants to turn America into a polic state so he can bring Democracy to Oil-soaked Iraq.
Throw the bums out.

I have to call Kelly Burnett on her comment about the attractiveness of mud fences. Comparing them with Mr. Thompson is a low-down slam on mud fences. Adobe looks better than Mr. Thompson ever thought of being, even with corrective surgery.

"I wonder who General Petraeus and his troops think is most supportive."
When you remember that it is the Democrats who are pushing to fully fund the VA, to reverse Bush's pay cuts for the military, to bring the troops home before more are killed and wounded (well, some Democrats are, just not enough and not the right ones), while Limbaugh can't understand why keeping the troops alive is important, I think the answer to that question is obvious.

Rush is just the best; I love how he stuck it to that shrapnel head soldier, who got injured by a suicide bomber, by calling HIM a suicide bomber. LMGAO. Then he implies the guy is stupid and can't read. He implies he not only has to have Rush's words read to him, but he has to be told what to think about it afterwards. Now that's how you deal with a libtard! Good show, Rush. You are number one.

I'm pretty sure that the first utterance of the phrase General Betray-us came from the troops in Iraq themselves - after Petraeus started putting them on small bases in Baghdad.
