Tancredo Calls ICE Against Durbin Press Conference
Although he's only in the House, Tom Tancredo has taken his fight against illegal immigration to the Senate side — by calling Immigration and Customs Enforcement and asking them to raid a press conference yesterday by Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), at which Tancredo mistakenly believed illegal aliens would be attending.
Durbin was presenting a bill that would confer legal status upon illegal immigrants who have graduated high school and will attend college or serve in the Armed Forces for two years. Accompanying Durbin were three immigrant students, all of whom are in the United States legally on temporary visas. No action was taken by ICE.
"If we can't enforce our laws inside the building where American laws are made, where can we enforce them?" Tancredo said in a statement.
Is there going to be an apology by this ass-clown? I doubt it. Pelosi will probably re-imburse him for the dime he dropped.

One-off stunt by Tancredo, or one piece of a systematic right-wing campaign to intimidate immigrants from speaking and appearing publicly in support of Democratic legislation and policies?
Tam Tran bravely testified before Rep. Zoe Lofgren's panel (D-CA) and was covered on the front page of USA Today. Three days later, her family was detained by Immigration and Custom's Enforcement.

Only Dems apologize (voluntarily or at the request of Republicans).
When is the last time a Republican has actually apologized for anything?
I challenge anyone to dig up an apology made by a Republican. They only demand apologies.

Doesn't this fall under the same rubric as not being allowed to raid Congresscritters' offices in search of evidence, as recently decided in the Rep. Jefferson case? Why is the leadership not calling Tancredo and ICE out on this?

I agree with NCDem. I also think that calling the cops out on one's political opponent smacks of Stalinism. I guess we have to be glad that an illegal was not planted in Durbin's office.

What a loon. How would you like to have this guy for a neighbor? You know, when the yard crew comes out to do your lawn, he'd be all over them, demanding the papers of every brown-skinned worker.
Or, imagine on Halloween eve, when kids come trick-or-treating. God help the little brown kids who knock on his door. "Yes you can have some candy, Manuel, but first can I see your birth certificate?"
