Rudy Promotes Tax-Cutting Record In Iowa Radio Ad
Here's Rudy Giuliani's new radio ad in Iowa, entitled "Them." The word "them" is not actually used in the ad, but "they" is — referring to the Democrats who will raise taxes, socialize medicine and otherwise increase government power over people's lives:
Rudy contrasts this with his own record as mayor of New York City, when he cut taxes: "I have no question that I can do the same thing for Washington that I did for New York City.”

Perfectly appropriate. It was Giuliani, after all, who saved the City from ginormous radioactive ants.
Or was it?

No, wait ... that was James Whitmore, James Arness, Fess Parker, and Leonard Nimoy as the "Army Sargeant".
But it did involve the FBI, Martial Law, copious use of flamethrowers and aerial bombardments -- all stock material for America's Mayor.

When I hear Rudy, I think of flaming with a slightly different connotation. On the other hand, he may have a point with the cutting taxes thing. First of all we don't need no stinkin' infrastructure upgrades; people can helicopter to work if they don't like the bridges. Second, why the hell do we have to pay for the Greater Middle East War (yes, it will be by 2009) when our grandchildren can do it. We want to get ours now. Thirdly, the wealthy shouldn't have to live on the margins like the stupid voters do. Why can't they get a break. And fourth, turn to page 237 in your Republican hymnal and we will all sing O! Praise to Cutting Taxes.

Paging Jon Chait...
Shocking! Another GOP candidate is promoting delusional free lunch up-is-down economic policy.

I really hope Chait's book has an impact on the media's he-said, she-said reporting on these types of total garbage policy claims...
...but I'm not holding my breath!
