Poll: Hillary Crushing Rudy In New York

One of Rudy's key arguments to GOP primary voters is that he'll put New York in play and hence would be more competitive against Hillary than his primary rivals.

But the new Quinnipiac poll of New York voters suggests that this argument is flawed: It finds that Hillary is crushing Rudy by 11 points in their home state, 52%-41%.

Interestingly, for all the talk about Rudy's 9/11 performance, Rudy's negatives are slightly higher than Hillary's in New York, too. Full poll here.

Tsk, tsk. Couldn't even win his own home state. That's always a bit of a black eye for a candidate. And it isn't like New York never elects Republicans to statewide office. The last governor was Republican and Chuck Schumer's seat was last held by the infamouse Alfonse M. D’Amato. But of course, Giuliani has never actually won a statewide election in New York or any other state.

No surprise here. Would love to see how high Rudy's negatives are in NYC. I'd bet they are through the roof. Those of us who know him the best, hate him the most.

Good observation. With respect to the poll, no surprises there for us inhabitants of this great state, who know them both well, and have gotten to love HRC, even in the Repub bastion of Upstate NY. Giuliani is a cross-dressing bully who, if elected (God forbid!), would make GWB look tame.

We know who is presidential material, and so should you by now...

Maybe the poll was skewed by the number of Rudy's ex-wives going for Hillary.

Maybe my scale needs adjusting, 11% = crushing? I guess in this hyper-partisan environment where we can expect so many 50/50 results, it is.

Not surprising that no substance Mrs. Bill is beating no substance Mr. 9/11 in a heavy blue state like NY.

Also, I am sure that it doesn't help Mr. 9/11 that he has unbelievably exploited the tragedy of 9/11 for personal financial gain and power. I wonder what would have happened to Mr. 9/11 if he wasn't bombed on 9/11. He probably would have retired to Tampa as opposed to making millions off of dead americans. What a patriot.

New York City is heavily blue; the state of New York, not so much. As CalD noted, New York has frequently elected Republicans to statewide office. And even New York City has elected Republican mayors.
