New Hillary Ad: She "Will Never Back Down" On Health Care
Hillary Clinton's newest ad running in Iowa and New Hampshire, entitled "Stand By Us," talks about Hillary's efforts when she "stood up" for children without health care, emergency personnel from 9/11, and National Guard and Reserve veterans — and notably, uses an image of Ground Zero in New York City:
"So now that almost every candidate is standing up for health care for all," the narrator says, "which one do you think will never back down?"

New poll out this morning has Clinton beating all Republicans in Florida, even topping Giuliani by 6!

Which one will not back down... hmm... I guess we're supposed to pick the only one who already has backed down once before? Surprisingly, the Clinton campaign is once again touting her rhetoric over her record.

Oh, boy. A field day ahead for the few anybody-but-Hillary people still left!
Come on, give it your best shot (Hatch - that's weak. - you can do better swipes at Hillary's past unbroken record of health car advocacy than any average Redstate poster).
No one with any sense would ever connect Hillary to any claims of leadership or dogged advocacy on this issue. Another infuriating, revisionist Clinton campaign trick with smoke and mirrors that even blinds the vision of Wesley Clark and George McGovern.
I expect the progressiver-than-thous to start gaining traction and to begin pulling down Hillary's poll numbers with the sheer magnitude of your Hillaryous insights into the "true" record of our party's frontrunner.

Seriously. This may be the worst idea for an ad push ever. I'm pretty sure every brain cell I have walked away from that ad saying "didn't you already back down before?"

No, Hillary did not "back down." She was pushed down the stairs by those whose interests were threatened. She has acknowleged her naivete as part of the failure the first time around, but her heart (if not her skills) were always in the right place on this.
She stayed with the issue as First Lady becoming the most visible spokesperson for what eventually passed as CHIP, and Congress has acknowleged her efforts and contributions in getting this law passed.
After her first election to the Senate, her first speech from the Senate floor was on healthcare and she outlined five specific proposals that she would support.
October 4, 2007 12:27 PM | Reply | Permalink
Oh, and here are just some of the healthcare-related laws she has co-sponsored (some of them bi-partisan which perhaps shows another set of skills in this area since most of her career her political enemies determined what legislation came to the floor).
These (ones that include her name on the legislation only) include:
Clinton-Smith Magnet Hospital Provisions Amendment to Nurse Reinvestment Act
Frist-Clinton Wired for Health Care Quality Act
Clinton-Talent Military Health Readiness Legislation
Dodd-Clinton Amendment to Expand Family and Medical Leave Benefits to Wounded Soldiers and Their Families
Clinton-Collins Measure to Improve Mental Health Services for Seniors Included in Older Americans Act
Clinton-Obama National Medical Error Disclosure and Compensation Act
Graham-Clinton TRICARE Benefits Expansion
Oh, and by political enemies, I meant Republicans not the blind Hillary-hater, progressiver-than-thous aiming their guns at their feet here on TPM EC.

Laughable....she backed down in the 90's why wouldn't she back down now, especially when she is actually taking money from the Health care, pharma, insurance lobby. ROTFLMAO

Hillary's initial push into health care reform failed not just because of coordinated Republican efforts to derail the plan, but in large part because of the way in which Hillary ended up alienating key Democratic allies (most famously Pat Moynihan and Bill Bradley) with a closed-door/aggressive approach. It was Ted Kennedy who actually picked up the pieces and ushered SCHIP through congress, largely by allaying the concerns that had emerged following the way in which Hillary handled the initial push.
Hillary's record in the Senate on health issues (as listed), while certainly commendable, is primarily made up of small-bore extensions of existing programs, a lot of which deal with service professionals (a result of her position on the Armed Services committee). And the smallness of the legislation isn't really her fault; nobody has been able to do another large push for universal health care, in large part because of the fallout from Hillary's initial push that essentially shelved major health care reform for a decade and half.
Hillary didn't "back down" from the battle, she lost the battle, in a way that just honestly doesn't inspire faith that she has the ability to usher in the bold, necessary changes that are needed.

You know, maybe if I say (in spite of the facts as outlined in my last two posts) "laughable" and "ROTFLMAO" in a really cynical way, I will rally more people against The Evil One's campaign.
What. You're telling me that insurance companies and other corporate capitalists have too much influence and sway over our elections!?
Mercy me, I think I'm swooning with a cold, calculating case of the vapours!
Of course, non of the other non-capitalist candidates running would like to be the front-runner and have all that delightful cash coming their way, nosireebob.
Doesn't it, under our current admittedly lousy election system, matter more what the winner will do once they've won. Hillary Clinton has one of the most solid liberal (90% plus) voting records of anyone running (yes, I too hate her votes on authorization, the Patriot Act etc., so spare me). I'm voting for her because she will win and because nothing fills me more with glee than to stick another Clinton (with Bill attached) in the eyes of our tormenters over the last 16 years.
Talk about your cynicism! Now THAT's ROTFLMAO cynicism, baby.

Sorry, Dave White
That last snotty post was a reply to marklanegan's post.
Re your feelings that her handling of the matter doesn't inspire confidence. Well, if she hasn't learned anything since those days, I would agree. Like I said, she acknowleges her blunders, perhaps not in as strong words.
Moynihan and Bradley were never Clinton fans anyway (although they mellowed later), and I always saw them as jumping up and down on the deck of the Titanic on this. It was essentially over before they could have helped turn it around.
I also respectfully disagree and contend that she, of the three frontrunners, most has the ability and political clout to get this thing done at this time.

Well, besides her deep experience in law and politics and her leading a winning disciplined campaign for the third time, maybe "we get two for the price of one?"
That's my grab from ancient history.

Um, colon, that list you posted [borrowing it from another poster, I believe].....could you kindly tell us whether Hillary was effective in those efforts? You know, like what on that list is now the law of the land? Thanks.
BTW, I am appalled at your stated reason for supporting your candidate in order 'to stick another Clinton [with Bill attached] in the eyes of our tormenters over the last 16 years'. I have noted your glee in such a notion, which explains, too, what sure seems like a 'negative pleasure' you derive from endlessly throwing barbs at anyone daring to do some critical thinking and posting about Hillary.
Your defense of your chosen candidate is admirable in consistency, but falls far short of persuading. You may think that problem lies in others, just as you insist that Hillary shares none of the blame for the loss around health care in the '90's. But, take this from a senior who learned this lesson slowly and painfully - if all you know how to do is be scrappy, all you will ever know is fighting.
Here are my thoughts upon reading that statement of yours: Scrappiness by itself is really a sad way to be in the world. Reacting to the stimuli of differences as just another scrimmage in another battle denies so much else. It denies the potential for learning and for healing and for the truly positive pleasure that comes from respectfully allowing differences, then working from that to find common ground.
It is that very scrappiness that, while admirable to an extent in Hillary Clinton, is also what makes me shudder at her campaign rhetoric and at the possibility of her becoming president. I for one am really sick and tired of intentional divisiveness which becomes outright stupidity when elevating old feuds above today's challenges.

Thank you Dave White -- for taking this debate beyond a recitation of what's on HRC's website -- and thank you DonnaG -- for expressing calmly what many of us feel but which doesn't get articulated because of the constant stream of insults and taunting from this poster.

No, Hillary you do not back down, you are like GWBush who 'stays the course' even when you create the biggest debacle in history..his was the war and yours is healthcare.
Massive complex problems require a lot of people skills to get the task done. You Hillary say to others 'your way or no way' and so yu do not back down and nothing gets done.
Nope, you just capitulate and in the end nothing is accomplished, just like today you are not going to back down and we will not have universal healthcare once again.
Your polarizing personality will create partisan bickering and infighting we will have to relive and rehash all the old political fights from the 90s and Newt Gingrich's congress.
You are such a fighter Hillary the problem is you just don't get anything done because sometimes big complex problems require leadership to get the job done.
You don't have leadership skills nor consensus building skills so you fight and fight and do not back down the only problem is nothing gets done.
Being a good fighter is no substitute for leadership.

Sorry to post information from Hillary's website in answer to questions about Hillary.
DonnaG
My so-called insults are merely equally barbed and cynical retorts in response to the many months of insults directed at Hillary Clinton's and her supporters' motives, abilities, and brain capacities.
Let's see, on this thread we have a funny tie-in to Tourette's Syndrome (classy), and her "rhetoric over record" (to which wes2 takes issue with my responding by citing her record - also thanks Dave White, BTW)
Sorry, DonnaG, I was so hoping you'd jump on the Clinton bandwagon after your many months' litanies of shady innuendoes and conspiracy theories .
About three weeks ago or so, I finally snapped and turned from a reasonable, possible Obama supporter into the raving Hillaryite you see before you now rubbing it in. I still love Obama BTW. I just think Hillary has the best chance to win. Sorry if I co-opted your favorite argument or got this info from Hillary's website or something.
Hey, maybe the chance to stick it up the place where I get most of my information from will motivate you to pull off the upset on behalf of your candidate. Unlike you, I like ALL the Dems this time (even the evil rhymes-with-bubbity-itch) and you'll get my vote for what it's worth to you.
PEACE

More pearls of wisdom from elrapierwit: "You (Hillary) don't have leadership skills nor consensus building skills."
From an earlier comment on this thread:
Clinton-SMITH Magnet Hospital Provisions Amendment to Nurse Reinvestment Act
FRIST-Clinton Wired for Health Care Quality Act
Clinton-TALENT Military Health Readiness Legislation
Clinton-COLLINS Measure to Improve Mental Health Services for Seniors Included in Older Americans Act
GRAHAM-Clinton TRICARE Benefits Expansion
Didn't Trent Lott comment on what an excellent, hard worker she is in the Senate?
Anyway, elrapierwit, point well taken!

Further, Finasteride increased the specificity and selectivity of prostate cancer detection, thus, a seemly increased rate of high Gleason grade tumor.

Propecia can be taken with or without food.
It is important to use Finasteride regularly to get the most benefit.
You may need to take Propecia daily for three months or more before you see a benefit.
Propecia can only work over the long term if you continue taking it. If the drug Propecia has
not worked for you in twelve months, further treatment is unlikely to be of benefit.
If you stop buy Finasteride, you will likely lose the hair you have gained within 12 months of stopping treatment. You should discuss this with your doctor. Store this medication at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
