Minnesota Democrats are reportedly feeling good about 2008 — and they've decided to not let even a single district pass them by. For 2008, the DFL will be shooting for all three Congressional seats held by the Republicans.

In the Second District, held by John Kline, Democrats have recruited former Watertown Mayor Steve Sarvi, who just returned in July from a tour of duty in Iraq.

The Dem field is still shaking itself out in the Third District, where incumbent Republican Jim Ramstad is retiring. State Senator Terri Bonoff is in the race, while state Representative Steve Simon and former state Senator Steve Kelley are considering it. And in an interesting twist, Edina Mayor James Hovland (R) says he's considering switching parties and running for the seat.

And in the Sixth District, held by freshman GOPer Michele Bachmann, Democrats have recruited former state transportation commissioner Elwyn Tinklenberg, who previously ran in 2006 but failed to win the nomination.

"We're talking about the whole state turning blue," Sarvi said. "It's going to be an exciting time."
