Breaking: Judge Denies Craig's Request To Withdraw Guilty Plea

The judge overseeing the Larry Craig case has denied the Idaho Senator's request to withdraw his guilty plea amid the wide-stance men's room scandal, CNN is reporting.

This is a big deal, because it would seem to render it difficult indeed for Craig to hang on to his Senate seat and keep fighting to clear his name. Craig could appeal, but GOP leaders have already publicly and privately been pressuring him to resign his Senate seat. Craig's office had said that he wanted to await the judge's decision. Now that he has it, it's hard to imagine that he would try to hang onto the seat for the duration of his appeal.

On the other hand, it was hard to imagine that things would get this far to begin with.

The next step will be for Craig to announce his intentions, and reporters are awaiting a statement either from Craig's lawyer or for the man himself. More soon.

Time for a subpoena from Mitchell Wade!

There are more levels of appeals he can pursue. He may not be going anywhere.

Lets give Larry a "wide stance" on his appeals. He has many more resources he can "tap". Lets now "wave" off his ability to continue his feckless term. I really, really want to see the
Senator show off his wide stance. I tried it and almost dislocated my hip.

Darn, I wanted him to stick around and be a laughingstock for the next year.

Craig should take up flying lessons. He already knows how to pull out of a stall.

I don't think he'll resign. It's a minor misdemeanor, for heaven's sake. Obviously he can't run again - but what alternative does he have that is better for him personally than staying in the Senate?

The MN decision is exactly what Craig wanted. He can remain in the Senate while the appeal process continues. He needs the legal protection of being a Senator in light of the Wilkes subpoena. The R leadership may press the ethics investigation, but that will open other closets that some individuals want to remain closed.

He will probably stay for as long as he is under subpoena to answer questions in all the graft cases going on.

Sorry about the 1st vid. Youtube took it down. It was the Knock Three Times song with new lyrics/

Stay and fight, Larry. If the Repugnants try to lynch you in the Ethics Committee, well, I bet you have a lead or two on what's behind their closet doors.

Craigs goin' down!

Wouldn't it be fun if Craig decided to stick to his guns and run for reelection out of spite? I'd dearly love to see the look on some Republican faces.

Craig could resign and become a lobbyist for a conservative Christian organization.

He will be missed in Washington by the Backdoor Caucus. I understand he has a great reach-around.

GOOD. NOW the other Senators need to send him to the "OUTHOUSE"!
