Thompson to Attend Debates in October
After backing out of previous debate opportunites — like when he skipped a Fox News debate to go on The Tonight Show — it turns out that Fred Thompson will be debating his Republican opponents, after all. Thompson's campaign sent out a press release saying they've agreed to attend three debates in October:
October 9th
CNBC/MSNBC/Wall Street Journal Debate
Dearborn, MIOctober 14th
WMUR-TV/ABC News/New Hampshire Union-Leader Debate
Manchester, NHOctober 21st
Republican Party of Florida/Fox News Debate
Orlando, FL
Thompson faces expectations that are simulatenously high, given his acting experience and the hype surrounding his candidacy before he declared, and low, considering the debates he's skipped before.

Since his bounce, Thompson appears first or second in polls, and he is taking most of his support from Romney. But the people who are making him a frontrunner now are voters who switch candidates at the slightest change of momentum, so we shouldn't read too much in the Thompson hype.
