Stakes Huge For Hillary's Health Care Speech Today
Given the fact that the right -- not to mention many at the big news orgs-- tried to define Hillary around her health care debacle for literally years through the nineties, there was obviously a huge amount at stake in today's speech revisiting the fraught issue.
So, understandably, the Hillary campaign went all out in staging the event. Ben Smith, who was at the speech, shares a few of the telling details: American flags positioned for every camera angle, a backdrop emblazoned with "American Health Choices Plan," etc.
The reference to "choice," one surmises, is an anticipation of the argument that such measures will inevitably deny "choice" to consumers. Hillary, of course, has a more-than-passing familiarity with the pushback used by the forces that resist health care reform.

Hillary's plan looks more like Romney's MA plan, actually. So, let's see how well this thing works in MA for at least 24 months. This plan is loaded with potential unintended consequences.
Polls show most MA residents are certain the plan is going to raise their taxes, despite having the entire state covered. So, unless medical premiums decline in the state, the people who already have coverage are the ones getting the short end of the stick. Their premiums go up and taxes too.

re: "Hillary's plan is Edwards'"
Yeah, where was she when Edwards was taking the initiative on the issue back in 1993?
Oh, right.
Sorry.
Never mind.
