What Rudy's proposals apply to Saxby Chambliss for smearing Max Clelland, or Bush for having his surrogates smear McCain's and Kerry's war records?

Everyone here should take note that on two recent comment boards here at TPM, an awful lot of posters thought it No Big Deal that the senate had taken time from its busy schedule to pass a resolution CONDEMNING POLITICAL SPEECH the Republicans did not "approve" of -- and 22 Democrats were COWED into going along with that CONDEMNATION.

Now, Rudy Giuliani thinks there should be some sort of PROHIBITION on any political speech of which Mr. Giuliani does not "approve."

People, this is SERIOUS stuff.

This is NOT something "trivial" or "unimportant" -- it is government figures CONDEMNING a political group's EXERCISE of its FREE SPEECH RIGHTS as protected in the Constitution of the United States.

Everyone who reads this MUST WRITE letters to the editors and WAKE UP the newspaper editors of this country.

You will note that no Republicans condemned Ann Coulter when she thought it would be great if terrorists set off a bomb in front of The New York Times.

No Republicans -- and certainly not Rudy Giuliani -- denounced the SwiftBoaters when they put up an ad smearing a DECORATED Vietnam veteran, John Kerry.

No Republicans -- and certainly not Rudy Giuliani -- denounced the ads that linked another Vietnam vet, Max Cleland, to Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.

The only political speech these Republicans CONDEMN -- and in the case of Rudy Giuliani wish to prohibit -- is the speech with which they disagree.

Do you not see where this is heading?

Rudy Giuliani MUST be exposed for the fascist dictator wannabe he is.
