Rudy Cites The Bible Regarding Family Life — And 9/11 Regarding That Cell Call

Rudy Giuliani, the most socially liberal major Republican candidate since Gerald Ford, tried an interesting line with Christian-right reporter David Brody: Citing the Bible.

"I'm guided very, very often about, 'Don't judge others, lest ye be judged,'" Rudy said when asked about his turbulent family life. "I'm guided a lot by the story of the woman that was gonna be stoned, and Jesus put the stones down and said, 'He that hasn't sinned, cast the first stone,' and everybody disappeared.

"It seems like, nowadays in America we have people that think they could've passed that test. And I don't think anybody could've passed that test but Jesus."

Rudy also gave an explanation for the odd manner in which he took a call from his wife during his speech before the NRA — citing 9/11. "My wife calls me when she gets on a plane," he said, saying how she was about to get on another plane but he didn't know exactly which one.

"And quite honestly, since Sept. 11, most of the time when we get on a plane, we talk to each other and just reaffirm the fact that we love each other," he said. "Sometimes if I'm in the middle of a very, very sensitive meeting, I don't take the call right then — I wait. But I thought it would be kind of nice if I took it at that point."

This just in: Rudy vows to not engage in any attacks on Republican opponents in primaries or the Democratic opponent in the general election, swearing to focus only on policy differences and the positive things he has to offer as President, leading one unnamed media representative to quip: 'and thus is born the "Campaign-in-a-Minute"'.

He also justified his support for gun rights now by his post 9-11 change of views... Sigh...

In the unofficial version, the "throw the first stone" goes like this. After Jesus says someone without sin should throw the first stone a big rock sails over the crowd at the poor woman. Jesus looks exasperated and yells: "Mom, PLEASE stay out of this!"

Rudy might well be the single most judgmental person in public life. As a New Yorker, I could go on for an hour or so listing all the individuals and groups he's "judged." Maybe it wasn't for their sexcapades, but he's pronounced on everything from the work ethic of the poor to the mental health of ferret owners.

He's a straight-up schmuck, and seriously unhinged.

Just in case anyone forgot. Why doesn't he officially change his name to Rudy 9/11 Guiliani? It would save alot of time an effort. I hope the scum bag rots in hell. Exploiting the dead for personal financial gain and power. Outrageous.

That photo sure looks like Giuliani passing judgment on someone.

In any case, conservative Christians are very quick to point out that judgment of people is permitted and even encouraged in their doctrine. The only judgment reserved for Jesus and God is that which determines whether or not you have achieved salvation. Everything else is on the table. Well, it is if you're a Republican, anyway... and in some cases that probably includes the salvation part as well.
