Richardson On Bush: He's Putting His Legacy Ahead Of The Troops
Bill Richardson on Bush's speech:
"Enough is enough. This President lacks credibility. President Bush needs to stop putting his historical legacy ahead of the safety of our troops and the security of our nation."As of next summer, the President plans to have 130,000 troops in the midst of a civil war in Iraq. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards would leave between 60,000 and 90,000 troops in Iraq with no timetable for a full withdrawal. All of these plans are unacceptable. We must get all of our troops out of Iraq in six to eight months.
"After years of President Bush's reckless mismanagement of the war in Iraq, there is only one responsible course of action left to us. We need to get all of our troops out of Iraq, not just the combat troops as others have suggested, and leave no residual forces behind. Our troops have done everything asked of them, but the solution in Iraq involves diplomacy, not military force. Leaving troops behind would serve as a roadblock to political progress. The hard work of diplomacy and reconciliation cannot begin until we start to withdraw our troops and make it clear that we are leaving. If Congress does not join me and get all of our troops out of Iraq, I will show them the way once I am elected President."

One who fabricates so badly needs to be called out.
I thought only Bush and the Republicans pulled that shit.
Shame on you, Bill.

Josh Medeiros wrote on September 13, 2007 11:16 PM:Man, that's beyond misrepresntation - that's an outright lie by Richardson. Make your point sure, but at least be honest, particularly about Edwards position which isn't much different than Richardson's.
Richardson even succeeds in "misrepresenting" his own position since he would leave troops for embassy protection just like Edwards would.
EricD wrote on September 13, 2007 11:21 PM:I was trying to be kind, but there is no doubt it's a falsity and represented so many times already that it's probably fair to say it's a premeditated lie.

There is NO PHYSICAL WAY anyone is going to get all of the troops out of Iraq in six to eight months. It's simply not possible. When asked about this, Richardson usually changes the subject and talks about how great things are in New Mexico: highest employment, highest per-capita income, rivers of gold running through the center of Albuquerque, free pie floating in the sky, etc.
Richardson is full of crap, really.

He brings nothing to the discussion of the future of the U.S. Instead he outright lies about other candidates, especially John Edwards, whose plan to leave Iraq has been clearly articulated since 2005. No residual troops except to protect the embassy if we leave it there. There is virtually no difference between Edwards strategy and Richardson's other than I trust Edwards to actually do it.
Richardson is running for Student Council President and promising Pepsi fountains in place of water fountains. His schmooz rambling Lieutenant Colombo impersonation has the outward trappings of Colombo, but not the Detective's intelligence. I would call him more like Inspector Clouseau with all his gaffes, but he is much more malevolent in his banality.
