Poll: Majority Of Idahoans Want Craig To Go
New Survey USA poll on what Idahoans think Larry Craig's next move should be:
What should Craig do?52% Leave Senate
29% Serve Out Term, Don't Run
17% Serve Out Term And Run Again
2% Not Sure
Meanwhile, 54% say he should leave his guilty plea in place.
Could things get worse for Craig? Well, yes, actually. When asked to rate the respect they have for Craig on a scale of one to 10, the largest percentage, 30%, choose one. Yikes.

I think Craig should serve out his term and run again. The spectacle of this would give dems in Idaho well-deserved schadenfreude. It would be material for a most excellent mockumentary.

Self-identified "Liberal" respondents disproportionately favor Craig's immediate departure, despite the facts that (1) this eliminates our best chances of picking up the seat; (2) Craig's replacement may be more conservative than he is; and (3) removal for mens room cruising is not a liberal position on principle.

It's exactly this sort of calculation that gets me mad at conservatives. "let's support this bad thing because it'll get us more votes." Regardless of sexuality, Craig is either a liar or a criminal. I'm glad liberals in Idaho would say he should do the right thing and leave, regardless of what it means politically.

you're right, it's not a great strategic position, but it's a perfectly consistent one -- liberals hate hypocrisy.
