Poll: Hillary Is The Best Democrat For Florida

A new Quinnipiac poll in Florida shows Hillary Clinton continuing to dominate in the Democratic primary with 42% support, compared to Barack Obama at 13%, non-candidate Al Gore at 12%, and John Edwards at 9%.

Furthermore, the poll would indicate that Hillary is the most electable Democrat in this critical swing state. She ties Rudy Giuliani while Obama and Edwards lose to Rudy, and she beats John McCain, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson by wider margins than any of the other Democrats can manage (and Obama trails McCain).

On the Republican side, Rudy leads the primary pack with 28%, followed by Thompson at 17%, Mitt Romney with 11%, and John McCain at 10%.

General election match-ups after the jump.

Clinton (D) 44%, Giuliani (R) 44% Giuliani (R) 47%, Obama (D) 38% Giuliani (R) 46%, Edwards (D) 42% Clinton (D) 45%, McCain (R) 40% McCain (R) 42%, Obama (D) 39% Edwards (D) 42%, McCain (R) 39% Clinton (D) 46%, Thompson (R) 40% Obama (D) 43%, Thompson (D) 39% Edwards (D) 44%, Thompson (R) 36% Clinton (D) 48%, Romney (R) 38% Obama (D) 44%, Romney (R) 36% Edwards (D) 47%, Romney (R) 33%

So what else is new. Democrats across this nation are being BRAINWASHED by the media AND the GOP that she is UNBEATABLE in the General Election. It's no wonder they vote for her.

She just HAPPENS to have a well known NAME to spread around. Seriously, how many folks know the names Obama, Biden, Richardson, Dodds and yes even Edwards (his problem is - he lost last time).

If ONLY American's would WAKE up and see that they are being MANIPULATED ONCE AGAIN by the media and the GOP - just as they did during before the 2000 recession/election and the Iraq war.

Well, I suppose Obama's comments on Castro didn't win him too many friends in Florida...

When I start noticing a particular slant in a website supporting a candidate like this one does to support Hillary, I suspect they are trading their integrity for future access to the candidate they are cheerleading for.

It is a lousy investment.

coonsey, you do yourself no good by calling people your candidate of choice needs to woo "BRAINWASHED". It probably wouldn't be so much of a problem if you didn't use all caps--that would not be offensive at all.

For the record, I was supporting Obama way back in early 2004 when he was an unknown state senator and was in Boston in 2004 when the first Obamamania hit. But I still support Clinton over him. There's a reason why Clinton is doing so well and campaigns/supporters are losing badly because they are complaining about the media's portrayal of Clinton. I'm not that old, but it's embarassingly laughable to think that Hillary has had anything approaching favorable coverage. Do you really believe that? How much anti-Clinton ink has been spilled compared to other candidates? Yet she's still winning. Says more about her strengths than people being brainwashed, IMO.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Starting right after the primaries, we will be seeing, night after night of clips of Bill kissing Monica, clips of Bill's pointing his finger at the camera, clips of the Impeachment trial, clips of that guy that killed himself during Bill's term (hillary was questioned about his brief case), clips about Whitewater, travelgate, etc.

Americans were CLINTON WEARY at the end of 1999. They were ready for a new face.

That is one reason to this day the House of Reps refuses to bring up articles of Impeachment against Pres Bush. They know Americans will think they are just doing a PayBack.

No, sorry, in the GE, Americans will dread another 4 years of the Clintons after hearing all about the first 12 years 'again'.

I seem often to be prompted to chime in by the Hillary bashers. I say again, she is not my candidate. But, I feel her critics are often unhinged. The post is fine. The poll numbers do in fact indicate just what the post says. I certainly agree there are arguments to make that the poll numbers may not hold up in the long run. But they are in fact what they are now.

But I want to also add that it is time to stop cringing in fear at what the right-wing media machine will do one day. They are damaged now. Still very powerful, but damaged. Now is the time to pile on. It is not at all clear that if Senator Clinton is the nominee they will be able to make any of their charges stick. Chins up all.

This smacks of desperation.

It is not HRC's fault that she has a recognizable last name, y'know. But it does not hurt poll numbers that she is smart, poised, and has been an effective legislator, REGARDLESS of her last name. In fact, honest folks looking at the candidates would conclude that she is the best qualified to be POTUS

No one in Florida is paying any attention to the race. They even lag behind the national polls. Clinton is also the only candidate to illegally campaign there, after the agreement not to campaign in Florida (they have a typically legalistic excuse).

TPM, pretty poor poll coverage once again. These numbers will change overnight once general election candidates are chosen by the parties.

No one in Iowa or New Hampshire is going to change their vote b/c of the bogus Florida non-primary outcome.

And do you really think Cuban-Americans like her, after her husband's DOJ grabbed poor, screaming little Elian Gonzalez at gunpoint and sent him back to Cuba?

Polls tend to show lately that Edwards's electability pitch is just not true. Clinton is not the weakest general election nominee. Many polls at this point show that to be the case.
