McCain's Michigan State Chair Quits

Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox is quitting his position as John McCain's state campaign chairman. Cox reportedly felt dissatisfied with McCain's Michigan campaign, and thought the Arizona Senator wasn't doing what it takes to win the state.

McCain had just been enjoying some media buzz about his campaign finding its footing again, so this can't be welcome news. Could it be the start of more problems?

Michigan is a Blue State that will not vote for the Republican candidate in 2008. Michigan is suffering economically due in part to years of Republican rule (John Engler) and neglect. It appears that Cox is just facing reality.

I love the fact that his campaign is a slow-moving train wreck. Drag it out John, nice and slow. Bleed all that GOP money away, drip drip drip. No surrender! Straight talk! Maverick! Whatever! In 6 months you can make yet another trip to Iraq wearing your flak jacket and with your helicopter gunship backup and tell us how much progress has been made there since your last visit.

Really a shame for McCain, who was getting some momentum recently with a quasi-endorsement from Bush Senior.

Wait, McCain is still running?

I have heard McCain speak on the Diane Rehm show last week and then MTP. He just seems like he is so tightly wound and doing everything he can to hold it together. I just hold my breath waiting for something to set him off....

To be fair (which is hard because I've come to despise McCain), I hardly think one campaign chair quitting is an "implosion." McCain's national numbers are on the uptick as the R's look for someone to convince them they are right to stick with the surge.

Of course that will kill him in the general election, but them's the breaks.

I can't wait for St. McCain to lose his shit in a very public manner. Rudy too.

I'm an Independent, and there was a time I considered supporting John McCain. Those days are gone.

I still respect him. Anyone who doesn't forgets what he's given this country. But recently, he's had horrible advise. Aligning himself with a delusional President, in hopes of securing the red base, was a catastrophic mistake for a man who once _was_ independent. Now his candidacy is laughable. It's a shame really. He's a better man than all the Republican front runners combined.

Say goodnight, John. Walk away before your dignity evaporates.

The Cox resignation is but one in a series of timed explosions which causes the final ultimate implosion.

I just don't understand how it could be legal for a state Attorney General to be anyone's "state campaign chairman."

The AG, SoS, etc. should be banned from such positions. It is clearly a conflict of interest if said candidate wins the primary, and an AG, who is responsible for clean and fair elections, is the overseer.

What is happening to our nation?

I thought McCain was running for US Clown. Oh wait; he is! Just listen to him talk about his religion 'I'm a Baptist! Today! Really!'
(no offense intended to actual Baptists, at least not by me)

Lest we forget, this clown candidate even has a theme song:
"Bomb, Bomb, Bomb; Bomb Bomb Iran"
-Now, everybody sing along! (Or else)

He's pretty funny. I'm waiting for the encore.

Why is the press even bothering to cover McCain? He's a joke.

Before: The Straight Talk Express
After: The Little Engine That Couldn't

Couldn't happen to a more deserving asslick.

ZA – me either...Or a Secretary of State. But it sure helps the party...anyone who thinks Kerry lost Ohio in 2004 or Gore in 2000 doesn't know about Ken Blackwell, now at a cushy job at the Heritage foundation, I think..

I was fooled by Mc Cain too. I even thought of him for a running mate for Kerry. What a joke!

As for a hero? Think about it, flying over cities and villages and bombing people with naphom and agent orange and getting shot down. Taken prisoner and admitting that he gave them more than just his name, rank, and serial number.

I'm sick of making heros out of people just because they were there.

I'm sick of supporting troops that don't want to be supported, that have drank the cool aid and think it is fine to torture and kill as many 'ragheads' as possible. Who are willing to believe that people that are trying to defend themselves and their families are terrorists and none of them are worth a damn, that they just want to kill Americans for no reason.

I'm not saying that they are all that way but there are a lot of them.

I lost all faith when I watched Mc Cain stand beside bush during the campaign biting his tongue and cowardly backing him after what they had done to him and his family. He is the worst kind of coward if he would not stand for himself and his family, how can we trust him to stand for our troops or us?

smartlady,

Would that I could share your optimism... But part of me thinks the dismal shape of our state's economy serves us right, for having so many STUPID residents who proudly supported The Fat Man Engler for so many years (hope he's enjoying that $88 million he squirreled away from jacking up our gas prices illegally in 2001!!). Love how the GOP tricks the uneducated into supporting its policies to their own detriment. Never fails to AMAZE me.

Cox is nothing but a mean-spirited, bigoted bastard who's working overtime to try and strip me of my partner benefits as an employee of a state University. He's incapable of facing reality - otherwise, why would he shill for a party that has so obviously left Michigan's concerns and citizenry in the dust?

Personally, I think Cox is nothing but an opportunistic piece of SHIT who feared national embarrassment, and who thought that prosecuting Geoffrey Fieger for a not-well-substantiated "alleged campaign contribution" scheme would make for better hometown press.

Mike Cox - Michigan's Own Worst Person in the World!!!
