Iraq Vet And Dem Congressman Patrick Murphy Blasts Rush
The Dem denunciations of Rush Limbaugh for saying that antiwar troops are "phony soldiers" are coming fast and furious now. We've just received a statement from antiwar Dem Rep. Patrick Murphy, an Iraq war vet himself:
“Someone should tell chicken-hawk Rush Limbaugh that the only phonies are those who choose not to serve and then criticize those who do. I served proudly, so did two of my fellow paratroopers in the 82nd Airborne who spoke out and died just weeks ago. Generations of American veterans have worn the uniform with pride and we know it is no contradiction to serve your country and still disagree with the Bush-civilian leadership that mismanaged this war.”
The fellow paratroopers who died that Murphy refers to are the authors of the Times Op ed questioning the war who were killed in Iraq after their piece appeared.

While your final paragraph is factually true, IMO it reads as if they were killed because of their NYT Op-Ed.
Two of them died in a vehicle accident, and a third was shot as the article was to be published.
I don't see the evidence to use the word "were killed" - more likely the simpler "died" or "died tragically"...

I'm torn here.
Yes, it's bad that Republicans accuse democrats of insulting the troops and then do it themselves. It's hypocritical.
But haven't they dragged the Democrats down to their level? Have Democratic congressmen given up on ending the war and are now trying to squeeze Rush Limbaugh? Is this what congress is reduced to?
I am sickened the Republicans just want to play games and avoid real action, but I'm flabbergasted that the Democrats have joined suit.

Murphy is my Congressman.
What he did is good, but not good enough.
He was one of the Democrats who joined the Republicans in condemning MoveOn.
I expect Congressman Murphy to work on a similar condemnation of Limbaugh now. It could be a learning experience for anybody who believes that Republicans will condemn Limbaugh.

Huge unexpected news out of California: The GOP groups have STOPPED THEIR EFFORT to divide the state's electoral votes!

You folks and those weak politicians in DC need to stop allowing yourselves to be duped. If you take 5-minutes and do a little fact checking you'll find that Limbaugh was referring and talking about this guy Jesse Macbeth who spent 45-days (that’s right) in the Army and was discharged (while still in boot camp).
Macbeth briefly and successfully passed himself off as a highly decorated vet from Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He claimed to be an Army Ranger with over 200 kills. This guy became a poster child for the anti-war left because he told of how he was made to kill innocent men, women in children in cold blood...that is until he was found to be a liar and a PHONEY! He was successful for a while because his story fit the template; that the US military is out of control in Iraq, killing wildly and for no reason. This guy was just sentenced to prison earlier this week. Here's the link:

Limbaugh is one of most vocal supporters of people like me (A MAN IN UNIFORM).

Preston, please provide a link to the transcript of Rush's show when he mentions Jesse MacBeth by name. Perhaps where you are MacBeth is some sort of "poster child." But on the East Coast (yes, I'm in DC), he is certainly not considered credible (MacBeth, not Limbaugh, for that matter) and has all but faded from memory. Plus, as he was exposed in May 2006, I find it hard to believe that Rush (with his chemically addled memory) was referring to that event specifically, when the context of the exchange clearly concerned the caller who claimed to be a vet and a Republican, but was not fully in favor of the mission in Iraq.
Nope. Rush doesn't have a helmet to piss in on this one.

Again, do a little fact checking. Rush actually mentioned the guy THE DAY BEFORE this caller. I marvel at how members of Congress stand on the floor and declare "the war lost" as Harry Reid did, or say how we're "terrorizing women and children in the dead of night" like John Kerry did, or calling us "cold-blooded killers" like Jack Murtha did and not a peep from the left. Even when charges are dropped. Tell you what, here ar a couple of links for you to check out for yourself.
Claiming to be "for the troops" or putting a sticker on your car mean nothing. Your're judged by your actions. I know the truth hurst, but take a look at the ABC news story that prompted the "morning update" taped and sent out to his website subcribers.

This aired at least a day or two BEFORE all the noise. Pay attention to this jerk Jesse Macbeth. After doing that morning update on Wednesday, Limbaugh got a phone call on his show and they were talking about the troops, and this said something that promted Limbaugh to use the term "phony soldiers.” I applaud him for it. Its disgusting that anone would have the stones to attempt to pass himself off as such.
Again, the reason people believed this guy is because he for the template; American military personnel are undisciplined and murderous. As always we have truth on our side.
This link should sum it all up:
