Huckabee Doubtful About Condom Programs For Africa
In an interview with CNN, Mike Huckabee expressed skepticism when asked about whether he would direct federal money to groups that provide condoms in Africa.
"I've been a little reluctant to think that condoms alone are the most effective way. It certainly is more effective than not having them. But I think helping people understand that condoms do have a failure rate, and they are not totally 100 percent successful," Huckabee said. "And it gives some people a false sense of security thinking that they can still live dangerously and recklessly and that that's going to be a fail safe protection when it obviously is not."

Mike Huckabee is another one of those jesus freaks who thinks it's their job to impose their warped belief systems on others.
No, condoms are not 100% fail safe.
Yes, condoms - indisputably - save lives.
Thank the goddess that this freak will never make it into a position where his belief system will harm others.

For certain Daddy Huckabee should have used a condom to avoid passing on bad genes.
Huckabee is living proof intelligent design is preposterous.

how ironic. i happened to look up the WHO stats on HIV infection rates around the world in 18-24 year olds. in those countries where education + condoms have been hammered home, the rates of infection have dropped drastically.
"not 100% effective" but more effective than nothing at all. what a tool.

He's not a tool. He and his ilk are trying to win a Darwin award for the entire human race through their backward, mythopeic, anti-science ideology.

I'm dissappointed. Huckabee needs to be a bit more tuned in on world health issues, and yes it is a moral imperitive, and demonstrate an understanding and appreciation for this pragmatic solution. If he does this, he will break free of the small hard right group and open himself us to a bigger audience.

Opposition to the use of condoms has lead to the unnecessary loss of millions of lives. The Catholic Church and Religious Right bear a good part of the moral responsibility for those deaths.
For those among them who believe that a lapse of sexual self-control deserves the death penalty I would point out that the children of HIV mothers are also infected.
I presume that these children are innocent life even though they are born rather than unborn.

I guess Huckabee is saying we should just ignore the problem and hope it goes away. Besides who cares if millions of people in
Africa die a slow painful death. Me and my friends are just fine.

Condoms aren't 100% effective, so we shouldn't use them.
Global warming isn't 100% proven, so we should do nothing about it.
The intelligence community has strong doubts about what we're being told by self-interested Iraqi exiles, but let's invade right ASAP!
The one thing that is 100% proven is that Republicans lie their asses off about their true motivations.

The ONE Campaign, www.one.org, is now rightfully going to get on his back. Many other righties have signed on to the ONE Campaign without these idiotic concerns.
Huckabee should be more concerned about these people dying than about their sex lives.
