Gingrich Not Running

Only a day after reports that Gingrich would put up a Web site seeking pledge money for a presidential campaign, an aide now says that he is backing off and will not run, after all.

"He will continue to bring the American people solutions to the challenges America faces through American Solutions, not as a candidate for president," said Gingrich spokesman Rick Tyler, in a phone interview with CNN.

Tyler said that Gingrich realized he could not run his American Solutions political action committee and form a presidential exploratory campaign at the same time.

So sad! But at least we have Alan Keyes to kick around.

One source of endless speculation now out, we are left with another big one: Recent reports imply Gardner might move the NH primary to December. What would happen then? My sense is that Clinton would benefit and Romney would hurt, a lot. Full analysis here.

Good, the email and enclosed JPEGs from Larry Flynt was received by Newt after all.

Three points.
First, the 30 million dollars he claimed to be the show of interest that would bring him into the race probably turned out to be a pipe dream.

Second, Gingrich was probably considered toxic by the party movers and shakers, and didn't want him near the race for fear of triggering a loss even worse than 2006.

Third, all of the above. Fear, by party leaders, of him running, probably kept the money people from committing any cash to his campaign.

Darn, there goes my get-rich quick scheme.
1) Pledge negative amount to Gingrich
2) ???
3) Profit!
