George McGovern To Endorse Hillary

Hillary Clinton is set to get the endorsement of a past Democratic nominee for president (besides Bill, of course). ABC News is reporting that Hillary will get the endorsement of former Senator George McGovern (D-SD), in an official announcement on October 6.

It's not actually that surprising. Bill and Hillary worked on McGovern's 1972 anti-war campaign, which lost in a landslide to Richard Nixon. So it might follow that McGovern would be inclined to return the favor — hopefully with a different outcome this time.

Ho hum, another day of great news for Hillary Clinton. One of the true heroes of World War II and a really smart and honest politician from the heartland throws in with her in the election.

Now THAT should get the Hillary-hater commentaters on TPM going big time in about 5 ... 4 ... 3 ...

I miss Gene McCarthy.

I predict Bill Bradley will not endorse Hillary.

I, too, miss Gene McCarthy - another wonderful, honest, antiwar Democrat like McGovern. It's a wonderful thing for both of us to finally agree on ;-)

I think Bradley will endorse her in the general if she takes the nomination.

I endorse her for the general election if she is nominated.

I don't like Bill---I voted for him twice. Dan Quayle was a powerful incentive in 92.

Speaking of missing things---can you give me a link to tpm's coverage of Obama's rally in NYC last night---attended by 5000, or maybe more than 20,000 people----

Admire Gene McCarthy if you'd like, but his decision to sit on his hands in the general election, and those supporters who followed his lead, led directly to the election of Richard Nixon.

which had about 1 tenth the effect of Humphrey allowing LBJ to sit on him.

I campaigned for Bobby Kennedy in LA in 1968. Humphrey paid a visit to one of the colleges in the Valley, and when a group of anti-war protesters started to heckle him, he told them to shut up and listen to those who knew better.

I did not vote for President in 1968. Gene McCarthy had nothing to do with my decision.

But I am glad to learn that Senator McGovern has endorsed Hillary, as well as to learn that Bill and Hillary worked on his campaign in 1972.

so who's Jimmy Carter going to endorse? I guessing it ain't Hillary.
