Dodd Ratchets Up Pressure On Hillary And Obama Over Iraq
Good stuff -- Chris Dodd is upping the pressure on Hillary and Obama to step up and demand that the Dem Congressional leadership refuse to fund the war without withdrawal timetables. Check out this new web video Dodd's campaign just posted calling out the other Senators running for President -- and we all know who they are:
"I'm asking my colleagues in the Senate to state clearly and directly whether or not they will support Iraq legislation if it fails to include a firm, enforceable deadline to begin and complete redeployment of troops from Iraq." The key word there, of course, being "complete." Dodd also has a petition up on his site so voters can contact their Senators to press the point.

Dodd doesn't have a snowball's chance of getting elected. Because of that, one could charitably say that he's using the (mini)megaphone conveyed by being a candidate not for personal gain, but to accomplish something. That's a good thing.
A better thing would be to find a way to actually stop funding the war, rather than talking about stopping the funding. Start doing something, please. Only action is going to force the administration to take action. Words don't mean a thing.
DP Huntsman wrote on September 12, 2007 12:04 PM:Blind adherence to short term withdrawal - or as Monty Python would say, "Run away...." - timetables, is hardly 'responsible'. Talking responsibly is something Gen.Abizaid did, as noted also on today's TPM.
Again we see an example of the only two options really being talked about inside the Beltway noise machine - of both party's - are the two wrong extremes: withdrawal asap, and stay the bloody-and-incompetent-course.
No leadership - on either side.

I don't recall Dodd saying anything about "short term withdrawal," Run Away" or "withdrawal ASAP."
Did you watch the same clip?

Dems are really far from being united on Iraq. Kucinich and Woosley showed how much more aggressive some in the Dem caucus want to be on this issue.
