Craig: I'm Not Going Anywhere -- I'm Staying In Senate

Remember a few weeks back when Larry Craig's office said he would resign his Senate seat by September 30 if his guilty plea weren't overturned by then?

Well, forget all that -- Craig is staying.

In the wake of the news today that the judge on the case won't be ruling on whether his guilty plea can be withdrawn until late next week at the latest -- that is to say, well after September 30 -- Craig has just confirmed that he's staying put:

"Today was a major step in the legal effort to clear my name," Craig said in a statement. "The court has not issued a ruling on my motion to withdraw my guilty plea. For now, I will continue my work in the U.S. Senate for Idaho."

"Today was a major step in the legal effort to clear my name,"

Pfft. It was a minor foot shuffle sideways.

Only a member of Congress would say that nothing decided is a major step.

Maybe he just wants to retain power so it is easier for him to make his little rendezvous in men's restrooms around the country as he travels on "official" (monkey?) business. lol.

Great! More GOP (General Order of Perverts) "family values' mud dragging opportunities. High fives all around!

It's almost too good to be true. Keep these buffoons on stage as long as possible. Prostitutes, public restroom sex, corruption, whoring for corporations, tax cuts for the rich, no health care for the kids, fun and games all around in Repugville. Can't wait for 2008...

As Sargent might say- Heh.

Since Larry wants to stick around I guess it is time to revisit some videos...

Both of these are great musically and politically

No way he can TAP DANCE his way out of this one!

user-pic

Didn't Craig say, "For now"? The Repub leadership is going to privately castrate him if he stays longer than "now"

Larry is very adept at straddling the bathroom issue.

I do hope this means the reason he needs to stay in the Senate is that he hears a calling to become a gay rights advocate because of the shameful, fundamental unfairness in the way he has been treated in this situation.

For the straight skinny on Craig's revised legal strategy see 'Larry's last stall' and 'Craig redux'at boreal moonlight canoeing.

'Those who shun politics are bound to be governed by their posteriors' right?

user-pic

No way! Larry's going to hang on so he can fight the Gay Al-Qaeda in America. Go get 'em Larry. It really helps to know the enemy as well as you seem too. Get in the toilet and do the research.

The decision by Craig is purely a money choice. I suspect he has no interest other than (Senator) money and relieving his legal dilemma.

I’m sure the good people of Iowa will understand.

The longer he stays his Albatross will continue weigh the GOP to extinction.

MEG:

Craig is the Senator from Idaho...

user-pic

Craig is the Senator from Idaho.
The people of Iowa are going over to the Democrats as if Craig is the Senator from Iowa.
Iowa is the state with the great Democratic Primary and the stumbling Republican Primary. It is the first State to have the election. It is a caucus election, but the results are official.

user-pic

Craig should stop "stall"ing.

A few months ago, if you had asked me "If a Republican senator with a 100% approval rating from the Christian Coalition was caught beating off to an undercover on the can in an airport, would that force him to resign?" I would have answered "Yes."

Anything that prolongs this most glorious Republican collapse, I'm for.

Pass the fucking popcorn.

iowa

idaho

same place

I'm pretty sure

heh...

user-pic

used to live in minnesota...live in idaho now.

donkey's comment reminds me of the old saw about iowans:

"fella from iowa came up to spend a week-long vacation in minnesota. all he brought along were a pair of overalls and a five dollar bill...he returned home without changing either."

yup. idaho.

iowa.

...about the same.

The voters of Iowa are going over to the Democrats.
The voters in every State are going over to the Democrats.
The voters who are changing to Democratic choose political substance over political ideaology, and old political relationsips.
They want progress. They want prosperity.
They want peace.

Keep yer buffoons straight:

In Iowa, our buffoon is a Rep (Steve King), our Senators (Harkin & Grassley) aren't quite so bad...

Here's hoping that King will be discovered in some sort of compromising position, soon!

Larry, hang in there! I'll find sumpthin' in Scottish law to get you off the pot.
