Rudy Holds No Advantage Over GOP Rivals On Terrorism, New Poll Shows

This is interesting: Some new numbers from this week's New York Times poll have just been released, and they suggest that Rudy is having no success in selling himself to GOP primary voters as the candidate best prepared to battle terrorism.

The survey finds that a solid majority of Republican voters -- 61% -- say he would do about the same job as his GOP rivals in handling the terror threat. Only 26% said he would do a better job.

The poll strongly suggests that Rudy's efforts to campaign on his 9/11 performance are translating into voter impressions of him as a strong leader. Fully a quarter of Rudy supporters cite his 9/11 moment as the reason they're backing him, and he's seen as a strong leader by 82% of Republicans.

Nonetheless, the above numbers suggest that Rudy's 9/11 campaign isn't persuading people that he's also the superior Terminator of Terrorists, as he's vying to be seen.

How many of those responders read the NY Times magazine piece by Matt Bai?

It really should have been titled "Matt Bai Hearts Rudy".

But at least the NY Times points out that Rudy's campaign theme of 9/11 24/7 might not be the most effective approach.

Remember, 9/11 Rudy is a creation of the lack of leadership from Bush. If Bush were any kind of leader on 9/11, Rudy would have been seen more as an answer to a trivia question. Someone, anyone, had to stand up and be the face we all turned to. Bush failed in his one chance, Rudy stepped up.

During the eight years Rudy was NYC mayor AFTER the first terror attack on the World Trade Center (in 1993) , Mayor Rudy did NOT hold even one multi-agency drill to prepare for the next sure-to-happen terror attack. Furthermore, during those eight years, Rudy mentioned "terrorism" publicly only once and that was in a speech about self-help and self-reliance!

"And [Rudy Giuliani] used it as a metaphor for self-help, for personal responsibility as part of his welfare program. He certainly never talked about the World Trade Center bombing." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19482765

Rudy did nothing to prevent a terror attack on NYC.

All Rudy did was to grab a microphone, find a TV camera and start talking. That is all he ever did. He has no terrorism credentials, nor did Rudy ever prevent even one terror attack anywhere.

Let's never forget that 9/11 has been very good to Rudy: he is now worth $33 million more than he was the day of 9/11.

Rudy Giuliani, long ago, crossed over the line between respectful remembrance of 9/11 and political exploitation of 9/11 for his own personal gain.

Let's remember that is was firefighters who rushed into those burning towers and raced up the stairs to help whomever they could find.

It was NOT Rudy Giuliani who was a hero on 9/11 -- it was the firemen, the policemen and the emergency personnel.

Rudy did nothing more than grab a microphone, find a TV cameraman and start talking.

I'm NOT convinced about that claim from him!

Was Rudy's Sept. 11th "leadership" really all that special? I mean all he did was NOT run around in circles soiling himself. It's not like the police or firefighters wouldn't have known what to do if Rudy hadn't been there to tell them.

Presently, (9/11/07) history is writing a bit of different story of heroes. The History Channel is filled with 9/11 documentaries today and Rudy is NOT a prominent player. In fact they barely mention him. The focus is on the real wo/men that were heroric. Firemen. Police. Emergency Service Workers. Rescue Workers. Bystanders. Even Photo Journalists are capturing a more heroic role than Rudy, which is deserved.

He needs to find his dish and go lay down. He sickens me. He plays on the still raw emotion of 9/11, to further his political agenda. He needs to be hung at gound zero by his...

Maybe all of that 26% are voting for him.
